Be careful – the only reason this hotel looks like it has good reviews is because management tells guests to delete the bad ones.
I stayed at The Club Hotel and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. At check-in I even asked about the laundry, but no one mentioned that the door would be locked after hours. I used the laundry right after check-in, and when it finished just 1.5 hours later, the door was locked with my clothes inside. Reception was already closed, with no notice.
The next morning reception was still shut. I had to leave so I left and called the hotel a few times but unanswered. When I finally reached the manager, she was rude, aggressive, and told me the laundry ‘always closes overnight’, and then demanded to delete my review before doing anything. She hung up on me without confirming if my clothes were even there.
Later they texted to say my clothes had been found, asked for my address, but then refused to send them saying they didn’t know how to accept payment. This is a hotel – surely there are ways to return a guest’s belongings. Since then, no reply at all.
The laundry room itself was dirty, no hours posted anywhere, and the overall service was shocking.
To be fair, the laundry being locked overnight could have been avoided if I had asked about the hours, so thats ok. But what made this experience truly unacceptable was everything afterwards – the manager’s hostile attitude, being told to delete my review, being asked for my personal address only to then say they couldn’t send my clothes, and no reply nor answering my calls anymore. That is what makes this hotel the worst I’ve...
Read moreWe stayed here Sunday night on a trip from Brisbane. The small motel style rooms are very close but separate from the main Hotel building. This reduces noise. So we heard no noise from the hotel. The road near the hotel is fairly quiet. We did hear the occasional Harley or loud V8 during the night. This is normal in most motel rooms in a town like Gladstone.
Our ratings: Cleanliness: You would struggle to find cleaner rooms. Up near the top of the good end in the zillions of motel rooms we have stayed at. Tiny bit of dust on top of the six foot high cabinet that stores the kettle, toaster etc.
Modern look and feel: They are old units that have been modernised. So there are faults but they have modern tiles on the floor, modern bathroom fittings etc. So very good overall.
Price: I am told the price varies depending on demand. We paid slightly under $100 for the night making them a bargain.
Size of rooms: Small, okay for two but would be a bit of a struggle for three people.
Would you let your Mum stay here: Mum is like the old departed Queen. So a serious step down for her. But yes she probably would be okay staying here for a "few" nights if...
Read moreI’m really sorry to do this, but I just need to share my experience to make whoever reads these aware, and unfortunately, it wasn’t a great one. I came to karaoke night on Saturday night, and came in early to have dinner. I see 2 staff ( Michelle and Jess - 5 stars to both of these incredible ladies!! ) absolutely run off their feet, and then I spot Nicole, who is standing around doing nothing, just leaning on the end of the bar. Probably has to be the laziest hospitality worker I’ve ever seen. She wouldn’t help the other 2 already very busy staff serve the bar when people were lining up, and she just left!
I was finished eating at this time so made my way into the sports bar for karaoke early. Not surprisingly, Nicole had abandoned her teammates to gossip with the other workers, in both the public bar and gaming bar! I had to leave because I couldn’t bare witness to it anymore. I’ve worked in the industry for over 30 years. This is not what hospitality is about, it’s about team work, and how she’s still working there is beyond me. What goes around,...
