It’s Saturday after Xmas - peak time in the hospitality industry. Clearly there were NOT enough staff to cater for the custom. A managers error. One would think given this is the most popular / touristy time of the year - a venue like this would be prepared. But no. 15 minutes after standing in line we are advised the bar is closed in the restaurant due to lack of staff and we need to go across to the other bar (which is now getting packed due to everyone going there for their drinks). Let’s now turn to the ordering and kitchen staff. We had a lovely NEW young lady (it was her first day) under the pump trying to take the orders. The kitchen staff were frantically preparing meals and it was clear they were short of workers. We had a chef (who thought he was Gordon Ramsey) going off / swearing at the staff in front of us (the customer). The lady taking orders was also dressing the plates readying them for meals so she did not see the dissatisfied people leaving as they were not being served. All in all - not a great dining experience.

We ate food from the Sports Bar but were allowed to sit in the Steakhouse dining which is part of the same establishment (no tables left in the sports bar area). Thanks. Good food, good service, good wine list. Busy on a Friday school holiday night, so book ahead. I would have had a side salad if available, but they don't have it on either menu. The Sails sports bar had bar style food whereas the Steakhouse is more upmarket and has proper dining tables so, if you've got kids with you, you'd want to sit here. The reason I didn't give a 5 * was that my wings were a bit too salty, else, they were very good, well cooked (not deep fried) and the flavours were good.

I recommend making a booking. We were walk-ins and lucky to get one of the last 3 tables available. Friendly staff. Clean restaurant and the food was great. We had natural oysters that were a decent size, a wagyu steak cooked perfect medium rare, garlic bread, a prime rib also cooked perfectly medium rare, and drinks. The mushroom sauce seemed to be handmade but don't quote me on that. It was really good. Side salads were fresh which was a plus. Highlight for me was the lemon, lime and bitters. You wouldn't believe how many bar staff butcher this drink. This place however, made it pretty decent. I'd visit again.

We booked a table for 7:30pm. Upon arrival, we were advised by the counter staff that our table was reserved in the sports bar by the pool tables and that we could order from the restaurant. We walked over to the sports bar and no tables were reserved for us. We saw a table in the restaurant that had been vacated so asked the staff member if we could sit there. She said yes and asked if we wanted her to clear it for us. We said yes, and she cleared the table, didn’t wipe it down, and didn’t give us fresh cutlery. Also left the side plates that the previous table had used. They were clean but still would have preferred fresh ones. There was no one behind the bar to serve us drinks so had to walk into the main bar to order and our food took over and hour to come out. We saw other tables that had arrived after us, collecting their food before us. When my friend went to ask they advised they had lost our docket. When the meals came out, two of our steaks were overcooked and the third one was completely over salted. Very...

Went here for dinner with my mother and family last week and really enjoyed the food. They all had steaks, which they loved. Especially the eye fillet my husband had! I had the deck of lamb (2/4 pieces of lamb off a rack) that was delicious. Unfortunately one piece was raw inside, and inedible. Lamb is meant to be pink inside, but not raw. I didn’t eat it and left it on the plate.

My only issue with this restaurant is the ambience- you are sitting inside a restaurant eating, but next door is the pub. So you can hear drunken shenanigans and a pub band butchering the classics. You can smell the alcohol from the pub. Also the restaurant (for some unknown reason!?) leaves the doors facing the pub, open-so the noise is excessive. It was hard talking to my 75yo mother and family at the end of the table, as the noise was so bad.

I’m hoping The Deck takes this into account, not everyone wants to hear a pub or feel like...
