Visited this business for an early dinner and, wanting to maximise our experience, selected several sides along with our mains.
I have to be honest and say that we have mixed reviews. The starters were hit-and-miss, with the garlic bread excellent (crunchy and tasty without being oily or soggy), but then the arancini balls lacked flavour (surprisingly accompanied by basil pesto), and the mozzarella sticks were hollow and virtually empty inside. I presume this can happen on occasion, but not on every single stick.
We had similar feelings about the pasta dishes as well. My Puttanesca was really good, with fantastic al dente spaghetti and loaded with ingredients. The plentiful presence of olives, capers and anchovies ensured flavour-overload, and I genuinely enjoyed my meal. My wife however, having selected the Carbonara, was underwhelmed. Without getting into the 'cream or no cream' debate, her dish fundamentally tasted like fettuccine in cream. There was a distinct lack of bacon (tiny pieces), parmesan and parsley, which left little else, other than the chicken pieces and fettuccine itself.
On a positive note, the serves are huge so there is value for money, in that regard. My photos are of the mains served up at home on large dinner plates. Even then, this only accounted for about 2/3 of the serve, meaning leftovers for the next day.
Last but not least, the gent managing both counter service and the ovens was approachable and friendly. The premises is clean and tidy, with a row of booths for in-house dining.
If we did return another day, I think we'd keep it simple and focus purely on the mains, in the hopes of obtaining approval from...
Read moreFirst thought of the restaurant I was intruiged but when it came to the food it was incredible 😲 We ordered 3 pastas, Alfredo pasta, garlic chilli and basil pasta, and chicken pasta and I need to get to the details because it was amazing! , The Alfredo pasta was a cheesy 🧀 and creamy pasta which was a great alternative for people who don't prefer meaty pastas. This was my favourite 😍 because how tasty it was so a recommendation is the Alfredo pasta. My mum's favourite was the chilly garlic basil pasta because the chilli makes the pasta have a kick it. Also my Mum and Dad are chilly lovers too. Now sorry because I don't have time to tell about the last pasta because I need to tell you about the churros. , Last but not least is the churros. We took it for take away and it was so good that we returned to buy another. This was way better than the San churros 😋. I highly recommend everyone to try this Italian gem and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did. Written by Mevan Edirisinghe. Young...
Read moreMany years have I steered clear of pasta from restaurants due to poorly plated and executed excuses for a good meal. I went along as it was my father in laws birthday and he had given me the heads up this place was the goods. Not licensed was not an issue, we brought a few bottles of wine and our own glasses. This meant we weren't restricted to the confines of the house wine list. Seeing the pasta making machines and bags of raw ingredients put some hope that this could be something else's. Two chefs worked the stove with a young polite lad taking orders and dishing out the meals. Mine hit the table without the pezzas of a flash restaurant. But the food spoke for its self. Bring it on, tasty and well done. You can't compare this place unless you have tried a proper pasta dish in Italy or throughout Europe. This is good food done well and not complicated the whole layout of the business. Still a cool experience.
I like pasta again. Well...
