I've never felt so patronised in my life dining in a restaurant. While I understand there are different methods to cooking food that perhaps was not stated in the menu, the goat curry had too many bones and not enough meat on. The fragments were big and small and hard to eat. Yes the chef rectified it by offering us a lamb dish but they took too long to rectify the situation by that point we had eaten my food waiting for their decision. The rest of the food as I mentioned to them tasted fine but the whole experience was made even harder if it wasn't for the service. I'm really sorry but just because I'm not Indian does not mean I don't understand. I have eaten Indian food many times, home cooked food too and my parents manage their own food business. I did not wish to complain but everytime I tried to speak I was spoken over and when we made it clear that we did not wish to pay for the goat dish we didn't eat she said, "well I will ask the chef because goat is expensive." I felt I was given a lecture about slow cooking meat and that's how Indians eat their food but she had no knowledge about what dips come with poppodoms, no big deal it's not a main meal. I initially thought they didn't have some starters available since it was crossed out but she said they do and rubbed it off with her in finger saying people like to draw on the menu that's when I realised her nails were black but I wasn't sure why but personally having worked in food I would never be allowed to serve food like that. I did not come here to bash the business or try and get freebies and nit pick but i do not hope for other people don't have the same experience as us because I made it clear my food tasted fine but our server would get defensive. The paneer (which is made in house) was fine, it was nice not to have a greasy curry and it had enough flavour but unfortunately our experience could have been better and has put me off...
Read moreNice family restaurant with delicious food. We were on our way from Mission Beach to Cairns and decided to stop by Inisfail for lunch. Initially due to the better reviews we wanted to go to the other Indian restaurant across the road but it was closed so we went to The Great Flavour of India, not expecting much. But omg! Everything we ordered was delicious, it was an explosion of flavour and probably one of the best Indian food we have had in a while! We had a butter chicken, a chicken madras, and 2 different lamb curries. The service was a bit slow though. I will definitely stop there if we ever drive in this direction again! Loved it! I honestly don’t understand the bad reviews, it blows my mind that some people put some reviews saying the food was tasteless when it was just...
Read moreBeen here dozens of times, pretty much every Friday night for well over a year at this point. I love the food. I mean i love it so much I'd want it to be my last meal. Sometimes the service is a bit ordinary (online order hasn't gone through) but the food is always worth it in the end. I love their lamb malai methi, goat curry, butter chicken and rogan josh, their biryani. I order their chips a lot because it is perfectly cooked near every time and seasoned to perfection. Love the onion bhaji and paneer pakora with the mint sauce. The flatbreads are simply the best. Best place in town to eat by far. Ive tried indian cuisine in townsville and cairns but this place does...
