Last Saturday for lunch, my partner, our 16-month-old son, and I had the pleasure of dining at The Spirited Goat, The Strand. From the outset, the experience was delightful. We made a reservation online, and upon arrival, we were warmly greeted. The staff's attentiveness and care ensured that all our needs were met with grace and professionalism.
For our starters, we indulged in the beef carpaccio and the burrata plates, followed by the poke bowl with chicken as our shared main, and a kids' chicken meal for our son. Every dish was an absolute treat—flavoursome, well-crafted, and undeniably moreish. Both staters are noteworthy, as the fresh ingredients created a delightful texture and taste far beyond our expectations.
The only slight misstep was with the aperitif I ordered, which arrived after the meals and lacked the refreshing quality I had anticipated. However, this minor detail did little to overshadow what was otherwise an exceptional experience.
Overall, I would rate our visit a stellar 4.5 out of 5. With its welcoming ambiance, exquisite food, and dedicated service, The Spirited Goat has left a lasting impression on us. We look forward to...
Read moreI still vouch the coffee is good, the beans they use make a difference.
However my bad experience is probably more directed at management. Overpriced food for what they serve and it’s not like they have a view of Maggie island to make up for the price you pay! Bought the granola and had 3/4 of one whole strawberry added and 5 blueberries! For a $20 granola breakfast that’s a ripoff if that’s what you consider ‘fruit’ on top of muesli with a spoonful of yoghurt in middle. Next my husband’s eggs Benny came and the poached eggs were boiled eggs. But because we waited 45 mins for our meal and knew we didn’t want to wait any longer we didn’t say anything to the already hammered cafe staff. Where’s the extra staff for the money they would be earning from our meals? Tables don’t get cleaned, no table service for coffees you get takeaway but having at your table.. Most people don’t complain and just don’t return.
Someone else just needs to open a competing cafe with better service and prices and this place would lose a lot of their...
Read moreQuality of food and the experience has been lost since the relocation. Breakfast on mothers day were average at best. The flagship bakers breakfast has halved in size and no longer has the same great flavours, . The "heirloom" tomato bruschetta, came out with half a punnet of average halved cherry tomatoes. The Eggs Benny's, was small with 1 bit of toast (perhaps others received 2), with burnt butter hollandaise, which was essentially just butter.
PRE OTTOS TAKE OVER: Always amazing breakfast, has remained consistent over the last couple of years. Coffee is personal preference but is always pleasant and drinkable. Personal favourite is the Bakers Breakfast, croissant stuffed with an omelette, delicious. Price very reasonable and staff are always very friendly. Nov 2020: Food is still consistent, they seem to be maintaining despite the dominance of Otto's now at the Precinct. The coffee was progressively getting less and less reliable and a recent change in supplier hasn't...
