The two star rating is only for the food alone and none for the services as our last dining experience at Phill Bean before 2021 was unfortunately ruined by a rude lady waitperson. We have been a local for years, and have previously been very happy with both the food and the services, both while dining as a family or with friends and groups. However, we were flabbergasted to experience a very unprofessional middle aged lady waitperson when we went for dinner on a Monday evening. As my wife was hungry, we booked for 2 adults and a high chair for a quick meal, with our intention for me to look after our baby while she eats because I was already full. The restaurant was reasonably full at 715pm, & we are happy to set up our table and high chair ourselves because the lady waitperson seems to be the only staff serving while the others are in the kitchen. After waiting for a while with no service, twice i walked up and approached her at the front counter to ask her to take our orders, hoping it will save her time. And twice she retorted back that she will come to our table to take our orders instead. When she finally came to our table, my wife ordered her favourite, their Korean chicken ginseng rice hotpot with extra rice. The waitress then asked “IS THAT ALL?” in an incredible tone, which took us by surprise. We explained yes I wasn’t hungry and we know the hotpot is quite large. She then retorted “YOU NEED TO ORDER ANOTHER DISH, ITS THE GENERAL RULE”, and when I asked her to please show me where it stated that as it’s the first time we were ever asked, she just turned and walked away in a huff. After reading several reviews as a result of her actions, it seems there are quite a few similar complaints about this waitress among diners’ reviews unfortunately. To be fair and reasonable, we always enjoyed the food there, and i will be happy to re-rate the venue in the future if the services improve at our next visit, whenever that may be. I sincerely wish the management will rectify this customer service issue and improve the dining experience of both new and regular loyal...

Bossam was lovely. Small serving but it was a nice starter.
Spicy Pork Soup was amazing. Big bones though, so not a lot of meat, but the broth itself was delish, with just enough spiciness to keep you excited. Chuck some rice in there and you’re sorted!
Also ordered the Galbi-jjim (beef ribs stew) and it was equally amazing. Slightly on the sweeter note but it was so enjoyable to eat and has lots of veggies to fill you up.
The side dishes were nice too.
We would’ve ordered the set menus as it’s such a good value, but it will probably be too much for us to eat.
The place opens at 9.30am as per Google, which was great because it’s such a homey breakfast, perfect for this winter days.
Already planning on our return soon!
Update: On separate day I have ordered the Galbi Soup and that was really comforting too. Tobokki was great. Bibimbap...
Read moreWent in late on a Monday night (we arrived around 8.40pm and the kitchen was about to close even tho the closing time from Google was 9.30pm) we have been greeted from the friendly waitress and been told that she would squeeze us in, after having a look at the menu we were a bit disoriented but she was able to guide us through the selection of the dishes, we picked the vegetables bulgogi the beef short ribs and the egg and tofu soup, our favorite was the ribs, was sweet full of flavour and super tender, everything was delicious so we made sure to don't leave anything in the plates. The ambience is cute, really simple and functional, I believe it was some sort of dance school, it's one of the shop in a small neighbourhood shopping center, perfect for families and friends low budget dinner. The food was delicious well presented and the staff knowledgeable and friendly. 5 stars all...
