Mod Thai — Restaurant in Shoal Bay

If I could give a zero or minus, I would. After reading the review oAn Google and experienced a dinner service myself, it was absolutely DISAPPOINTING!

Fiest step to the restaurant, I saw dirty dishes on the tables everywhere. I thought, it's ok, they probably so busy and short of staff. Then I went sit down and read the menu, and wait for a long time to be able to order when there were only 3 tables and they all already ordered.

Staff were just talking to each other and moving very slow like they didn't want to be there.

Entree were nice, however, the galangal soup was terrible. It looked like a bowl of vomit which had been reheat in the microwave. I never seen anything like this before. The whole fish was sold out which was fine so I ordered crab dish instead. The dish looked miserable. They didn't even bother cook the onions and capsicum let alone put more variety of vegetable in the dish. They were just raw vegetables which was cut and put in the wok to get some sauce on it and served.

Cocktails are way too expensive and didn't even taste nice.

It was so lack of afford on anything at all at this place considering they are the only Thai restaurant in the area. They could have done a bit better or just close down and let someone else run it.

I didn't finish the food because I was scared I would get sick, well, lucky I didn't get sick.

If I ever go back to Shoal Bay again, I wouldn't go back to this place unless they run by different...

We dined in and ordered curry puffs, lab na & soft shell crab. We asked for no chilli in the salad for the soft shell crab. Unfortunately it arrived with chilli so we asked to have it fixed. The solution we discovered was to take the plate back, scrape the chilli off and return the dish stone cold but still too spicy due to chilli still being all through the crab. We never received the curry puffs. We asked for them at the end of the meal. The wait for food was about 25mins and the people beside us waited at least an hour as ot seems they forgot/lost their order. I ordered a cocktail and unfortunately it tasted overwhelmingly of lime cordial so I don't recommend wasting the $18 on any cocktail here. Not sure what happened as we've dined here in the past and enjoyed it. Perhaps it's in new ownership?? Either way, something went very wrong tonight for many of...

What a fabulous spot for dinner, Mod Thai Shoal Bay. I've never been here before, so I was hoping it would be good food.

The view from the lounge near the cocktail bar is awesome in the evening.

The restaurant was full, the staff were extremely busy, however they were all very welcoming.

I ordered the Pad Prew Wan with King Prawns, Kao rice and Deep Fried Ice cream for dessert. And was told I may have a bit of a wait. I told the staff it was fine, as it was clear they were trying very hard to get all their customers served as quickly as they could.

When my meal arrived, it was well presented on the plate and the flavours and tastes were yum😋. It was also clear to see everything was freshly prepared.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Thai...
