STOP EVERYTHING: You Haven’t Lived Until You’ve Had a Meat Pie from Foxy’s Bakery in Stanthorpe
If Stanthorpe is the beating heart of the Granite Belt, then Foxy’s Bakery is its golden soul—wrapped in buttery, flaky pastry and crowned with glorious, bubbling cheese. I came for the scenery, but stayed for the pies. Scratch that—I worshipped the pies.
Let me be perfectly clear: Fiona and her legendary team of pastry virtuosos are not simply bakers. No, they are culinary sorcerers, kneading magic into every crust, conjuring fillings that whisper to your tastebuds and scream to your soul. The meat pies? They don’t just melt in your mouth—they transform you. One bite and you’re not in Stanthorpe anymore; you’re in a dimension where gravy is a gift from the gods and pastry is an art form worthy of worship.
And just when you think you've reached peak bliss—enter the sweet pastries. Words barely do them justice, but I’ll try: the custard tarts are velvet dreams cradled in golden shells; the cream buns are soft, pillowy clouds bursting with nostalgia and joy; and the vanilla slices—dear heavens—are towering monuments to indulgence, with layers so divine they practically levitate. These are not your average bakery treats—these are desserts so decadent they should be in a glass case at a museum. Except at Foxy’s, you get to devour the art.
And as if Fiona hadn’t already outdone herself, the coffee—oh, the coffee!—is an experience all its own. Smooth, bold, and brewed with the kind of precision that borders on the supernatural. It's the kind of coffee that makes your soul sit up straight and say, “Yes. This is the moment.”
Every time you walk through the doors of Foxy’s, you’re met not just with the tantalizing scent of baking brilliance, but with Fiona herself, a woman whose warmth could thaw the coldest Granite Belt morning. Her smile alone could win awards—but luckily, she doesn’t need to rely on charm alone. Behind her counter glisten trophies—trophies that practically scream, "We are the best in Queensland—and beyond!" These aren’t props. These are proof.
Frankly, it’s an international tragedy that not everyone has tasted these pies and pastries. Paris can keep its patisserie, Rome can have its gelato—Stanthorpe has Foxy’s, and that makes it the culinary capital of the Southern Hemisphere. NSW can look on with envy, because across the border, Fiona reigns supreme.
So here’s my plea to every traveler heading through the Granite Belt: forget the wineries for a second (I know, blasphemy), skip the sightseeing (you can Google it later), and make your pilgrimage to Foxy’s Bakery. This isn’t just a stop—it’s a destination. A landmark. A lifestyle.
Foxy’s isn’t just the best bakery in Queensland. It’s the reason the rest of the world needs to catch up.

Read moreAmazing apple pies. Foxy's has to be one of the best bakeries i have tried. When i holiday i like to try bakeries. These guys made my holiday superb. Apple pie. Custard tart. Choc brownie. Bread. Sausage rolls. Pies. Bakewell tart. Cream bun. All were good. Happily recommend these guys... esp the applie pie a 10/10 from me. Updated 2025... still the best apple pie i reckon in Stanthorpe.
Edit. They have renovated. Looks good with double the space. Lots more product to purchase as well. But after buying the same apple pies my son and i both thought they had shrunk in size. Still taste...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill, came in on Tuesday morning, staff were rude and didn’t go the extra mile. Steak and mushroom pies had steak on one half of pie and mushroom the other. Toasted sandwiches were lightly toasted on one half and white on the other. Bacon and egg rolls just came with packeted sauce, most places ask what sauce and put it on the roll for you. I just feel a sense of laziness and and unwillingness to go the extra mile for the customers. Such a shame as I‘be been coming back here for years, but I think I’ll go up the road from this...
