So my wife and I spent 2 days camping in NSW before heading to Stanthorpe for another 2 nights. Sunday morning has us in town to find a cafe for breakfast. Most cafes had city level menu pricing which I found absurd, especially considering Stanthorpe is in the middle of a huge drought, been ravaged by fires etc . I would have thought attracting tourism be of utmost priority. Then the last cafe we visited was perfect. Lily's Cafe. The one we are sitting in right now. Ordered eggs Benedict, less than $14 , with bacon. Wife had standard Bacon, Eggs, tomatoes etc , also well below Brisbane prices. Didn't take photos , just got stuck in. Was absolutely perfect :) Service - 10 Food - 10 Presentation - 10 Prices - 10 Overall 10
If you are coming to Stanthorpe, and they definitely do need tourists as most of the backpackers aren't turning up due to drought, then by all means check out Lily's Cafe on the main at. Compared to the others ... this is the best.
Oh and I have no connection to this cafe or it's staff at all ... just had to share our experience :)
Merry Christmas and happy...
Read moreI have no idea how this place has such rating (4.6!). Wow, just wow.
Thursday night, 3 of us standing at the restaurant's door in front of the sign 'Please wait to be seated' for 2 mins, waiter looking at us and ignoring us at the same time.
Once we sat down, I tried to order pasta bolognese but was told that it won't be ready for at least one hour (!?). Just to repeat, the restaurant was empty, only us 3 trying to order the food.
We quickly then ordered pasta Riccardo and pasta Pollo as we were told that they would be ready in no time. Fifty (50) mins after we finally got out 2 plates of food.
Pasta overcooked - it was falling apart on a touch, sauces were bought in Coles, Aldi... who knows, they weren't made fresh, chicken was dreadful. Honestly, that food was one of the worse meals...
Read moreHave been wanting to return to Stanthorpe for over 15 years and was glad that this wonderful eatery is where our feet landed first. The four of us arrived shortly before closing after lunch on a Sunday, two adults and two under five, but were met with friendly staff and prompt service. The wife and I both picked a salad meal and were not disappointed. While we had planned to share both we soon decided there was no getting any more than a small taste of the others meal choice. The kids were more than catered for and very happy with their plate, large enough that neither could finish. If you have the time and there is a table to man, head into Lily's Cafe as I can find no reason to...
