Marble Bar Bistro — Restaurant in Sunshine Beach

First time in Sunshine beach went to this restaurant with my family - there was nobody by the door so we walked in and took a menu - The “bartender/owner” said loudly sorry that’s the take away menu - here take the sit down menu”. So my daughter and I proceeded to sit in a big enough table for my family who were joining us. He spoke loudly and said “have you made a booking that table is for a large group - you need to book as we get very busy” there were only about 6 people in the restaurant. I apologised and asked if it’s okay as there were 5 adults and 2 children. He said again we needed to book.. we felt humiliated that he spoke so loudly to us in a disrespectful manner and left the restaurant without ordering. There was absolutely no need to talk with a raised voice to us !!

I said he was racist and he said loudly don’t bother coming back (we are a south African family and recognised racism as we have been through it many times before)! Left a sour taste...

Walked in at 140pm on Good Friday and was told to grab a reserved table that I could have til 330. Great, thanks. Ordered a margarita and chicken tenders ($46). After 5-10 mins they asked me if I could move to another seat that’d become free to make space for a table for 4. I said sure, no worries.

Food came out a bit after 2. At 225 I was relaxing, pondering another drink when I was told I had to leave now as it’d been 40 mins since I’d finished my meal and by law had to leave unless I bought more food or drink. Sounded more like “we don’t want you here unless you spend more” and it had in fact been no more than 15 minutes since I’d finished the meal.

Girl at bar was nice but the dude that moved me and then moved me on should rethink how he approaches customers.

Food was good and would’ve rated higher for the overall if the other dude had been better- and I would’ve stayed for another drink too…

Please read the entire review. I started off unhappy but resolved the situation with manager and am completely happy now. Will definitely return for amazing food and wine. Original review. Initially I was Very unhappy with the customer service. I t seems if you can't understand English you just say yes to everything.. I've just had to throw away heaps of food I didn't order but unfortunately did pay for. Check the terminal before tapping your card is what should have done . The food was delicious. Update.
