We booked and visited for an early evening meal on Friday night at 6 p.m. We were looking forward to seeing the recently renovated Sunshine Beach Surf Club and certainly it's a far bigger venue than the previous building on this same site.
We were amazed to see how busy it was at this early dinner hour with most tables being already filled and people eating.
The venue looks very attractive from the very small car park. It's often difficult to get parking in the area.
After signing in and a little time we were fronted by a small gentleman in a striped shirt and caramel coloured shorts who questioned us as to what we wanted . We were quite taken aback but it seems that this was a uniformed staff member that wasn't recognisable as he had no name tag. Originally they couldn't find our booking but it was sorted and we were given a table. We weren't offered any water, no menus or drink lists so we scurried about to salvage some from other guests. There were quite a number of staff on but still very long queues at the bar and also to place food orders. Nonetheless our meals arrived relatively promptly and they were of a terrific standard. My eye fillet was perfect medium rare. The snapper was generous and delicious and the meals were hot and well presented.
We left shortly after we finished eating as the cacophony of noise was unbearable and we couldn't carry on a conversation. There is no carpet, blinds or overhead soft structures to absorb any noise. Of an evening there is no view to be seen of the beach or surrounds as it's too dark.
I've always enjoyed this venue previously during the day time and during the week when it's much quieter and you can make the most of the lovely...
Read moreHad the absolute pleasure of having lunch here while on holidays to Noosa. Reserving a table was very easy and the woman who showed me and my partner to our table was very friendly and amicable, making sure to say farewell to us on our way out. The Oceanside view and cool breeze also added to the overall relaxing atmosphere, of the club and made us feel like we could lay back a bit more in comparison to the very formal feeling of other restaurants. We were here during the summer menu, our starters were Pork Gyoza with Plum sauce & Pizza Bread with parmesan grated on top. The starters were great and you could tell they had just came out of the oven as all of the food was hot when arriving.
For mains my partner ordered battered fish & chips, whereas I got the 180g Rib Eye fillet with mashed potatoes, gravy and hollandaise sauce. With almost every restaurant I've been to when I order steak I'm usually very disappointed when it comes to the flavours in the meal especially considering the high prices some places put on their steaks. I was pleasantly surprised with this place as the Rib eye was incredibly tender, juicy and full of flavour. The mashed potato's were very soft and creamy, which went really well with the gravy which had a thick consistency.
My partners battered fish tasted incredibly fresh and well seasoned. Her chips were super crispy and had just the right amount of salt on it. I tried their Pineapple Margharita which was also very good; and I'm not usually a fan of pineapple.
Although the place will put a decent sized hole in your wallet ($102 for all of the food above) it was well worth it, overall I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be coming...
Read moreThe food here is absolutely disgusting, and the prices are more than what you would pay on Hastings Street and the supervisors rude, ignorant and unprofessional. We waited over an hour for our main meals; I had the battered snapper - and it was not snapper at all. It may as well have been Birds Eye fish fingers, and looked like a kids meal. It was SO incredibly dry it was inedible, and the batter thicker than the actual piece of dried out fish flesh. My mum ordered the grilled snapper, which actually resembled a piece of fish, but if you know snapper, it does not need to be cooked long or it becomes over cooked very quickly. It was practically incinerated, and so dry and so salty it was inedible. The side salads it came with were undressed dry piece of cabbage called a slaw. I was so excited for my meal at the Surf Club and to try it out for the first time I even became a member to support the club, but really, you can have your membership card back, I will not be returning. It was the worst meal I have ever had in my life. You would think a surf club would have reliable fish and chips, I thought you really can’t stuff this up, but I have been proved wrong. I hope your chefs can really improve here, otherwise why would you pay more ($32) when you can get the best most succulent fish and chips with crispy beer battered Barramundi on Hastings st at Boardwalk Bistro FOR LESS MONEY! An absolute waste...
