We order often from Bombay Bliss but tonight will be our last time. We placed an order at 5.57 and received a message saying it would be ready in 75 minutes. We thought this was quite a long wait however often the online ordering system time isn’t accurate and it arrives sooner.
At 7.18 I called to check on the whereabouts of our order as it was now 6 minutes late. No one could tell me anything and I was told someone would call me back. They called and said it was going to be another 20 minutes… at no point did anyone from the restaurant think to contact me to tell me it would be this late? We would have cancelled it.
Another 32 minutes passed- no food. I called back, she said she’d speak to the chef and put the phone down. I could hear the girl speaking about me to the chef, things along the lines of “it’s the one who was complaining” “I’ve already told her that”. Clearly I was an inconvenience to them. She then said she’d call and check on the whereabouts of the driver.
He finally showed up at 7.55pm putting our total wait time at almost 2 hours and 40 minutes later than the estimated arrival time.
Food was cold- this is something I asked about on the phone as I suspected it would be. They assured me it wouldn’t be cold. Freezing cold tandoori chicken, soggy naan bread and lukewarm curries. Also missing one serve of mango chutney. Delivery driver gave us a $10 off coupon, we paid $10.50 for delivery- ridiculous.
We asked about a refund to which they said I needed to come into store to claim in cash despite us ordering online using a card. Not sure why I should be further inconvenienced by having to come down there in person at night when I have a child who needs to be put to bed. They said they’re unable to refund to the card I used but this untrue as they use the booking system Pin Payments which has the capacity to provide refunds.
Overall a horrendous experience. Such a shame as we have spent a considerable amount of money ordering from this restaurant in the past. We often ordered when we had guests over. Things have been missing from orders on occasion too- something we let go...
Read moreHaving read all the great reviews and being recommended, I was really looking forward to getting dinner from here.
Unfortunately, I was terrible disappointed. I ordered online and got a confirmation that the order had been received. But I did not get any other notifications after that. After 50 minutes, I rang the restaurant to check on my order and was told my order was ready to be collected. By the time I got there, it was lukewarm.
The Chicken Biryani was extremely salty and oily (dripping when I emptied the contents into a bowl) and surprisingly 'gluggy', not fluffy as Biryani should be. The Fish Masala was also disappointing - it looked as though the fish had been overcooked and falling apart. Even though the sauce was tasty, again it was very salty. I totally appreciate that takeaways can often be salty, but this was inedible.
From reading other reviews, I can only hope this was just an off night for the chef. Not sure if I am game to try again as it was not...
