Very disappointing experience tonight. No matter where we go, we treat staff with kindness, a smile, respect, gratitude. We are completely understanding of an extra busy night when there’s an event. We went there specifically to enjoy the origin with some nice food and great atmosphere. We understand that food service can be slow on a very busy night. I don’t mind waiting an hour for a burger and chips. However if I order starters, I’d like to see them within half an hour.. 45 mins max. We waited an hour and 15 mins for our meal, which arrived before our starters. When questioned, the waitress simply told us it’s a busy night. I had previously asked a young man if he could check on our order as we did not have our starters yet. He said he would check, but never came back. Clearly there was a stuff up. And that’s okay! But don’t act like I’m the issue. Simply apologise and let us know it was a stuff up. Don’t come back to the table with the starters that had only just been cooked, and dump them on our table with a foul look on your face and walk away without a word. Don’t go and b!tch to the other staff, causing them to shoot daggers on their way past as well. On top of this, one burger was cold, another was soggy and the third described as “okay”. On arrival we were taken to our seat and told “here you go”, without being pointed in the direction of menus or where to order. Not long after arrival, my son complained of having touched chewing gum stuck under the table. When my husband took him to the toilet to wash his hands, they described the men’s toilet as being disgusting and covered in p!ss. The atmosphere was mediocre. There was little interaction between staff and patrons to get involved with the game. No sign of games and prizes etc as advertised. The Q&A with Luke Williamson was underwhelming, terrible sound, barely decipherable conversation. It’s my birthday tomorrow and I chose to go out a night early to have a fun origin night at the pub and it was a waste of...
Read moreMy partner and I came in for lunch and unfortunately had a disappointing experience from the start. When we approached a staff member to ask if the kitchen was open, she abruptly cut off my partner mid-sentence and said she was seating tables and couldn’t help us—despite us just trying to ask a quick question.
We ordered a lunch steak to share and then went to the bar to grab a drink. Although we were acknowledged, several other customers were served ahead of us even though we had been waiting first. The overall attitude from the staff felt dismissive and unfriendly, which already left a bad impression.
When our meal arrived, the steak wasn’t cooked to our liking, the chips tasted old, and the slaw wasn’t fresh. We each took a couple of bites and decided to ask for a refund—something we rarely do, but felt necessary given the overall experience. After some back and forth, the refund was processed, but as my partner was walking away, a staff member made an unnecessary comment implying we had eaten half the meal.
Considering we were sharing a 200g steak and only had a couple of bites each, this felt inappropriate and dismissive—just like the rest of our experience. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
Highly recommend heading to Alex Surfy instead—much better...
Read moreMeet here with a friend and her daughter with my son and a bunch of others incl. 2 other kids on a Saturday evening.
First time visiting and dining.
Busy night, a couple of birthday parties, bucks and hens night.
A couple tables were booked ahead of time for us. We were in the front outside covered area in front of the food ordering counter.
The parking, traffic gets busy out on the street and parking availability can be hard but you have the big top that you can park at.
My 12yo son and I ordered: Caramel milkshake Chips with gravy Lemongrass Chicken Salad
The caramel milkshake I felt was literally a sundae tumbler lip dipped with some syrup and 101 thousands, filled with room temperature milk and caramel syrup stirred through.
The chips were decent enough, a little more seasoning would have been nice. The gravy a little on the watery tasting side.
A little disappointed with the salad. It looked and felt like it was a packet of mixed green salad leaves from the supermarket, emptied into the bowl with some nuts and bean sprouts, oil? sprinkled in with a rather bland piece of slightly dry, cold piece of cut up chicken with the bone attached still. Lacked some richness and flavour to be honest.
Not sure if I would...
