First of all, I’d like to say that I was a fine food chef for 45 years before retiring. I don’t usually leave reviews — mostly because very few meals meet the standards I’ve worked with all my life. But three weeks ago, I had a meal at your cafe that completely surprised me.
The food was absolutely spot on — cooked perfectly, packed with flavour, and beautifully presented. What really amazed me was how fast the meals were coming out, despite the cafe being flat-out busy. That kind of quality and speed is rare, and it told me straight away that someone serious was behind the pans.
So I asked the waitress, and she told me it was your female Japanese chef running the kitchen that day. Well, that explained everything. Chef, if you’re reading this — you are truly outstanding. The precision in the cooking, the balance of flavours, and the calm under pressure — it all shows your talent and dedication. Even though these were café-style dishes, they had the quality and care of fine dining.
If I still had my own place, I would’ve offered you a job on the spot — with a very generous salary to match your skill.

Read moreMid week my daughter and myself along with my 4 mth old grandson went out for my daughters first breakfast since having her baby and we were both looking forward to a lovely cooked breakfast and coffee .
My daughter looked at the menu and commented on the fact that breakfast finished at 11.00am. We gave our orders in immediately with both our I phones reading 10.57am . To our amazement the young man behind the counter said "sorry" its 11.00am ! We said no its actually 10.58am . We thought he was joking and said he'd have to ask the cook in the kitchen if its ok . The cooks response was NO.
We couldn't believe it !! They let two paying customers walk right out the door , we would have spent at least $50. We walked into the cafe right next door and asked it they are still serving breakfast and they said "of course we are'
I would never return to Emjays ever again. This is what happens I guess when businesses are franchised , I guess at the end of the day the cook doesn't really care .
I hope the owner of this business looks at his kitchen staff and explains that its a team effort .

This is why: Your google presence advises you close at 3pm and we arrived at 215pm. Your staff member mentioned the kitchen closes at 230pm, so we lined up at the counter to order at 220pm and the awful screaming banshee who rushed out of the kitchen to tell the staff member taking the order that the kitchen was closed (well let's say if that was a child, you'd make them stand in the corner), needs some serious customer service updating. The staff member double checked with her and apparently its too difficult to put a burger together, as they were very keen to knock off early. VERY poor form! Obviously not the management team or the owner!! Anyway, as expected, Harry's across the road prepped our Burgers and drinks in no time and they added to their day's takings.
