It was disappointing. The kid's avo on toast had old brown avo. The potato rosti was overcooked on the bottom and near impossible to cut through or eat. The sound of the dish was better than the dish. It should have worked, but didn't. The alfalfa sprouts were put on top of hot food and smelled like bleach. The Lettuce garnish wilted under hot food and was inedible. The buckwheat pancake itself was bland and not nice, however the fresh fruit and toppings were quite nice. In response to owner's reply of my review: This was our first visit to your cafe. We are a GF household and used to buckwheat pancakes as an option for us, that ingredient was not the issue. We weren't looking for the usual fluffy puffy kind of traditional pancake. Like I said, the toppings were really nice, we just didn't enjoy the pancake itself. We also did not finish the pancakes, that plate was definitely not clean. Our son didn't mention about the avocado until he was finished. And I didn't know that the lettuce garnish would be served underneath the hot food, or that I would get sprouts on top, so I couldn't ask for those changes beforehand. Like I've mentioned, we haven't been there before. I love sprouts, I just think the heat from the rosti made them smell bad. I struggled a lot to cut through the rosti, and the flavours weren't balanced well enough, I tried to get to the part where I could appreciate the meal and all of it's flavours, but it just left me with a pesto aftertaste for the next few hours! I really should have ordered...
Read moreWe went to Kimnat Café in Woombye for Father’s Day and I have to say, it’s easily one of the best cafés I’ve been to since moving to the Sunshine Coast. After seven months of trying different spots, Kimnat really stood out. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming, with that perfect balance of country charm and Sunshine Coast café culture.
The food was outstanding – fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. You can tell they care about quality ingredients and putting together dishes that are both generous and delicious. Every plate we saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing, and ours absolutely delivered. The coffee was spot on too, which is always a deal-breaker for me when it comes to cafés.
The service at Kimnat Café was just as impressive as the food. Friendly, attentive staff who actually seem to enjoy what they do make a big difference. They were quick to help, happy to chat, and made the whole experience feel personal. It’s the kind of service that makes you want to come back, not just for the food but for the overall vibe.
The setting in Woombye adds to the charm. It’s a little country town with a real community feel, and after breakfast or lunch at Kimnat you can wander around and check out the local op shops and small businesses. It makes for the perfect day out – a great café experience with a chance to explore one of the Coast’s quieter gems. Highly recommend Kimnat Café to anyone looking for a place that truly delivers on food, service,...
Read moreWoombye is a pleasant town with a friendly vibe and Kinmat is located in one of the old Queenslander houses in the main street. It is shaded by a huge tree and has a very welcoming and calming entrance. There are some nice tables at the ground level (if you are mobility impaired) but you have to go up the stairs to order your food and there are more tables there. The menu offers a very good selection of healthy breakfast and lunch foods and drinks, including fresh juices and 'super latte' options. I had the Viet noodle salad - iceberg lettuce, rice noodles, nuts, cucumber and pickled carrot - with lemongrass beef that was generous, fresh and very tasty ($22). My wife had the vegetarian/ vegan Buddha Bowl - edamame, walnut 'taco mince', pickled carrot, sprouts and more - that she enjoyed $20). She had a salted caramel smoothie ($10.50) and I had a Hanoi Refresher ($9.50), both were very refreshing and tasty. The service was friendly and we didn't wait long for our meals. I noticed, but didn't try, some very delicious looking pastries and a serious coffee machine, so I suspect you could also have a very enjoyable morning tea as well! At $62 it was an enjoyable lunch, good value and worth another...
