Nambour Thai Kitchen — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

Firstly, the food was very nice. I ordered online at 4:30 for pick up at 7pm. I had to wait for 15 minutes which was annoying as it was a 20 minute drive there and back and my timing was carefully planned for a birthday event. Having paid $124 as soon as I entered I then asked for an additional plastic bag when the food was ready. I was told I would have to pay 10 cents for this by a diminutive Asian lady. Surely not I said, but she there was no way she was changing her mind on that. I didn’t have any ‘real’ money. On arriving back at the car, my husband was appalled at the refusal of an extra bag having spent such a lot on dinner. He went straight back in and was met with the same response from the same lady. Luckily he is a tall guy and was just immovable on the bag situation and she threw a bag at him. Again, the food was very good, no problems there but the attitude and nitpickiness of the staff really left a bad taste in our mouths. Do people not realise that situations like this deter customers from future patronage? Despite the nice food, we will not be returning to this establishment. My review does not serve to turn people away but to hopefully alert the management to their unnecessary pettiness. You have just lost...

IS THIS THE BEST THAI ON THE COAST?

After trying about 30 different Thai Restaurants over the last 20 years on the Sunshine Coast, we'd say YES!

And Vegan dishes abound here.

Is Spirit House better? Maybe, by about 10%?

And that's a MAYBE - depending on what dishes you order at both establishments.

But Nambour Thai Kitchen is one third the price of what you'll pay at the other place. So, as our Yankee friends would say, you do the math.

We went at lunchtime. Car park out back. Decor is nothing to write home about, but that doesn't matter as the service was friendly and genuine; and the food was most excellent!

I could wax on about which dishes we had (3 x Vegan) but you're busy and so am I.

We love Thai food! So I can’t tell you what a find NTK is! The chicken satay was perfect from the tender perfectly cooked chicken to the sublime satay sauce, perfect in taste and consistency. My husband had the fish cakes which were spot on with a deep prawn flavour and accompanying dip/sauce. I had the Prawn choo chee curry cooked to my taste as I don’t like too much spice/heat. Hubby had the duck delight from the specials board. Lots of veg, perfectly cooked duck in a delicious oyster broth. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. By the time we were leaving the place was packed out and at the rate the telephone was ringing, clearly it’s the most popular place in town for takeaway. Great value too!!!! BYO they don’t...
