Walked out in disgust. How hard is it to offer gluten free food options that are based on meat fish tofu vegetables and rice. These people clearly think ceoliac disease is a joke and tamari doesn't exist. And the "impossible dish I asked for was anything that was hot and gluten free and not chicken as I am still paying for the meal of chicken 3 days ago that was clearly not gluten free as it was claimed. I adjusted my choice several times after the waitress returned telling me the bento box the beef rice bowl and the pork belly rice bowl was not gluten free so how is it you had started cooking my food. Oh you mean my non ceoliac husbands food. So anything beef pork with rice was impossible was it? How dificult of me! The chef just responded to my request by saying what ever is marked on the menu as GF. You had better read your own menu over again. Other than cold food, chicken teriaki and salmon teriaki were about the only things available to me on the entire menu. I eat japanese food all the time because it is simple to get gluten free food with meat and rice So salmon teriaki the only thing you could offer me and I have had it before and found teriaki to be rather overpowering on fish. I just wanted a meal I could eat without being ill. So if that is too much to ask maybe you shouldn't be...

When 7 people can dine in an establishment and be served with production line precision, I'm genuinely impressed. This was the first time in a VERY long time, of dining in many different places, that drinks arrived together, then entrees arrived together, then mains arrived together. It was kitchen perfection.
As for the food, it was just as impressive. We ordered a bunch of different things - bao buns, gyoza, spring rolls, deep fried oysters, various rice bowls (katsu, teriyaki salmon, sweet & spicy chicken), nigiri, fried noodles and more, all of which were super fresh, steaming hot (except nigiri, of course) and immensely tasty.
Service was also fantastic, with two separate waitresses providing friendly and regular assistance.
The venue itself is small yet inviting and we did not feel crowded by the other diners there.
Another huge positive was the inexpensive prices. For a party of 7 to fill their bellies on several courses and enjoy a drink as well, all for a mere $200, was impressive.
NIKONIKO deserves their vast number of 5 star reviews and I am happy to give them one more. Everything about this...
Read moreIf you're in Alexandra Headland and looking for a great spot for Japanese food, NikoNiko Japanese Table is definitely worth checking out. They offer a great lunch special, which is a good value and a great way to sample a variety of different dishes.
I have to say that the chicken katsu wasn't quite up to par. It was a bit ordinary and didn't have the same level of flavor and tenderness that I've experienced at other Japanese restaurants. However, I'm sure that other dishes on the menu are likely to be much better.
The atmosphere at NikoNiko Japanese Table is warm and welcoming, and the service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a cozy feel, and it's a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with friends.
Overall, I'd recommend giving NikoNiko Japanese Table a try, especially if you're looking for a good lunch special. While the chicken katsu may not have been the best, I'm confident that there are other dishes on the menu that are sure to be delicious. The friendly service and cozy atmosphere make for a great dining...
