I had quite a few people tell me prior to visiting The See Restaurant, Mooloolaba that it was an experience to be had, well I can only say they were very right. The following is the feast we devoured, I don't think you could pick anything off their menu that isn't 5 Star quality, it was such a delight. Enjoy! The Coconut Prawns were absolutely mouthwatering; the crunch of the coconut and macadamia crust with the accompanying Aioli is a perfect complement to the dish. The prawns were quite large; could have been a meal in itself, also that corn salsa; yes it was soo good and just melded the flavours together with the prawns; a match made in heaven. This was such a perfect dish, it's a must have in my book. The Chilean Style Chilli Crab: WOW! What a beautiful, very pleasing to the eye this dish was, if first impressions were anything this has already won me. Be prepared to get your hands dirty and appreciate this dish to the max! The tomato and chilli broth was yet another example of the perfect complement to the crab, the ciabatta roll was a great addition to soak up that broth and the tools provided enabled us to get all the crab meat out and enjoy the journey along the way. And the main was the Queensland Barbecue Seafood Platter and as the title says it’s a platter, Presentation was superb. Consisting of BBQ Squid, Mooloolaba King Prawns, Sea Scallops, Barramundi and Moreton bays bugs with some great Chilean flavours mixed throughout the dish. Only to say it was cooked to perfection and the tastes complemented each other very well, if you are a visitor to the region this is a great way to try some of the local seafoods cooked. What a taste sensation, absolutely first-class journey and not to mention the service from the wonderful staff was very heartwarming they really do love their work here. Go ahead treat Yourself or someone special, you won't be disappointed! For more images please see Instagram:...
Read moreWe chose See for my 40th birthday dinner as we ate lunch at your restaurant on my 39th birthday last year and were very impressed with the service and quality of food.
Pity the same could not be said 12 months later.
After being placed at the bar as the table was not ready (not even offered a drink). I was told to carry my own menu to the table upon it being made ready.
I was placed against an indoor plant which was over hanging me while I tried to sit at the table as well as a large raucous and often crass party of more than 10 clearly intoxicated persons.
During our dinner I had to remind our waitress that we were consuming sparkling water at least four times as she continued to pour still water into our glasses.
I also purchased a bottle of wine which we had to continually ask for our glasses to be filled, at one point spilling the wine onto the table while attempting to pour after being continually asked for a glass of wine.
Part way through the meal one of the waitresses noticed that the indoor plant was impeding my ability to dine and moved our table away from the plant causing the table to be uneven, wobbly and cause drinks to spill while attempting to eat.
The food was better than the sub par service but a far cry from the outstanding meal purchased the previous visit.
I could not wait to leave the restaurant after our main meals were finished!
The wait staff seemed friendly enough but the level of service provided was amateur at best.
I don’t mind spending $200 for a quality meal for two but when the service and food aren’t up to the standards that command those prices, it clearly leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth.
Buyer beware extremely overpriced for appalling service… I’ve received better service at local pub...
Read moreMaître de was welcoming and kindly advised that our outdoor table wasn’t quite ready so would be like to sit at the bar. Lovely 2 seats overlooking the water with an awesome wine list to start working through! My Italian Prosecco was delicious at a very cheap $12! Hubby had beer. The interior is stunning, bright & cool, and you can’t get a bad table. We opted for the quietly advertised 3 course lunch special. They don’t shout out about it but as locals caught on and are blown away! $50/3 course or $40/ 2 course. Sensational! Calamari entree soft to the touch with a light aioli. 4 large pieces coated in cornmeal & Cardiman & very substantial. The pork medallion entree was so good for my non seafood lover husband. Served on an apple & bacon gratin and topped with sweet potato crisps, it was yum! The marinara linguini was aldente, generous, fresh & aromatic. 4/5 mussels in shell, a buttery scallop in shell, a large chargrilled mooloolaba prawn. And countless tiny pippies, calamari, fish bits. All topped with a fresh salsa of tomato, herbs , garlic, chilli. Hubbies main was stuffed chicken breast with Chardonnay cream. Upon cutting into it he was surprised with loads of Fetta. Sun dried tomatoes & spinach, truly decadent. We were pleasantly surprised by an unusual Chilean risotto / paella vegetable side. Full of favour and delicious!
Every staff member we encountered were kind, bubbly and informative. We are European ‘foodies’ and tend to be quite fussy but under no circumstances could we find any faults here. Chefs are using high quality produce and are serving it in a Creative & generous way. They deserve to do well and we...
