Sadly this place is dull and overpriced with poor service attitude. To walk in on a Saturday afternoon with an almost empty room and greeted with "you have a booking ?" is not welcoming. To have our two cocktails finally delivered to the rather uncomfortable window seat overlooking the Big Top centre, and a few glimpses of water was underwhelming. No menus offered and had to decide on our drink at the bar before being told where we could sit but noticing their were no reserved signs was downright rude with no explanation offered. I had just been lunching and had a wonderful time at the market bistro. I would recommend an immediate staff appraisal and attitude adjustment or replacement to encourage a more welcoming and pleasant experience. By the way the cocktails were the same ones we had at the bistro but 15% more expensive and we're poorly mixed in comparison with the Bistro. This is in contrast with our previous experience at this bar so why has...
Read moreRecently went for the Sunday bottomless brunch and was extremely disappointed. My partner and I were recommended the smoked chicken bagel by the staff, if this is the best main on the menu I would hate to try the others. The bagel was so hard, the smoked chicken was flavorless/jelly and I’m almost certain comes from a packet already sliced and as for the tomato/avo also no flavour. The menu also states tea/coffee/juice- there is no coffee machine which is very disappointing for a brunch, we were told we could go downstairs to the coffee shop and get a take away coffee to bring back up… my partner asked for a juice and got a small champagne glass filled with the juice concentrate that is used for cocktails. The “fresh baked pastries and fruit”… 2 small cold pastries again from a packet and tastes like they had been baked the day before and sitting out and a few tiny pieces of fruit… Very disappointing. One positive was that the staff were pleasant...
Read moreUnderstandably a busy place however if I could give 0 stars for service I would. Rang up to make a booking (for a large group), was told it would be fine and to make a $100 deposit. Was then told not to bother with deposit. I made sure to ask if this meant I still was fine with the booking and was happy to make deposit, and was told this is fine. Had a bad feeling about the “booking” so went up in person to speak with the event manager. The event manager was rude, did not introduce himself, basically asked me who I spoke to then told me in summary too bad (additionally if I was to make a booking anyway that it would be a $250 deposit) and that they would “get back to me” (didn’t ask for any details....??) before cutting me off mid conversation by answering his phone and walking away. No apologies given. Perhaps as a new venue you could first work on your booking system/getting your information straight and also...
