Much to our disappointment, this may be our last visit. SC used to make decently frothy and robust almond / soy flat white. Maybe it's the rising world coffee bean price or shop rental, but as of late, the coffee we've had were wearily weak to the extent of tasting of warm milk poured into an used cup with residual coffee. We had to DIY and added an extra strong shot of coffee at home. If you're someone who is counting their daily caffeine intake, you'd understand how disheartening this mis-appropriated quota is.
Onto their cakes: We ordered the Honey Gorgonzola with raisin cheesecake and Black Sesame with Oreo shortcake. As their cakes are not priced, we guesstimated each to be $8-9. Apart from being of petite portion, to say they tasted underwhelming is an understatement.
The Honey Gorgonzola was unique but not necessarily withholding from weird. The Black Sesame shortcake was dry, bland and smeared with a sliver of be-speckled cream posing as black sesame.
For two tiny cakes and a small coffee, it was $22. We took three goes to finally finish up the unpalatable cakes (it is Christmas, we forcibly managed our cheerleading and...
Read moreI wanted to share my experience during my recent visits. It seems that the café might not be very welcoming to families with young children. I believe it could be helpful to clearly indicate a policy regarding children, perhaps with a sign, if children are not welcome.
I want to mention that about 70% of my orders have been for takeaway, and %30 in the cafe my toddler has never caused a mess requires police!!!!!!. Unfortunately, she accidentally broke two wooden spoons, but I usually try to make sure that we keep the area tidy by returning any items to the staff. Anyways, I was quite surprised when the manager mentioned involving the police if we continued to visit. I believe it would be more constructive to focus on improving the café's family-friendly atmosphere rather than creating such a negative experience for customers.
I promise, my friends and I are considering other options, such as “Leaf Café,” which we have found to offer a better overall experience.
Thank you for considering...
Read moreI’m not here to say whether this place is good or bad overall, but I just want to share something that actually happened to me today. I dropped in after work and ordered a coffee. They told me they don’t serve it in porcelain mugs—only paper cups. I said, “No worries.” Then they mentioned there’s a 10% surcharge because it’s the weekend. Again, I said, “That’s fine.”
I also ordered a slice of carrot cake. When it came out, the cake tasted old and was completely flavourless, and the coffee honestly tasted like burnt paper or charcoal. I told them it was undrinkable and the cake wasn’t fresh at all. The staff member just turned her back and said, “That’s what we’ve got.” No apology, no offer to fix it—nothing.
I walked out without touching the food or drink. They seemed totally indifferent and run-down. Is that normal...
