A historical landmark bridge on Parramatta river between Rhodes and Meadowbank. The older bridge structure is now used as a cycling path, for walking across the river. The bridge was originally constructed in the 1880s and decommissioned after 100 years of service. An evening walk across this bridge over the river is a pleasant experience.

Where the best view throughout the entire T9 Northern Line revealed. Always try to make a point not to miss the precious 20 seconds capturing the breathtaking scene of Parramatta River and its banks. Also great for a run between Meadowbank and Rhodes.

An old bridge that looks to be used for trains in the old days, but the new structure for the train is built next to this one and now is being used for pedestrian crossing between Meadowbank and Rhodes. The bike/walking path seems to be pretty long.

BRIDGE NOW REOPENED - A lovely heritage bridge and a great for pedestrians and cyclists between Rhodes and Meadowbank!

    • Original Review Below - - -

BRIDGE CLOSED to pedestrians and cyclists following a small fire on 25 January 2021 (search for ‘John Whitton Bridge fire’ for more info). Access is currently blocked off, with riders and pedestrians advised to use nearby Ryde Bridge instead. No word currently on when the bridge will be repaired and reopened.

Note this closure only affects the pedestrian/cyclist bridge - the adjoining train bridge was not damaged, and trains continue to...

Couple of months ago, I visited John Whitton Bridge and had a fantastic experience! The views from the bridge are absolutely stunning, making it a perfect spot for photos. The surrounding area is well-maintained, and it’s great for a leisurely stroll or a bike ride. I also appreciated the informative plaques that share the history of the bridge. It’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway or a...

The view towards the city from this bridge whilst using the pedestrian path is great - practically uninterrupted. Ride across the bridge every day, and its nice wide path gives plenty of safety for on foot pedestrians from those on bikes/boards/scooters. The leisure area underneath the bridge on the Rhodes side is also some of the nicer council development work I've seen in a while. Listened to a guy play some slow jazz there at night once -...
