Tried their two clay pots and clay fish rice noodle rolls today. Pros: Very clean and tidy venue, quiet location, plenty of seats, a variety of clay pots to choose from, and extras (porridge, dim yum, soups…etc) to order for. Meats are fresh, and decent size of food. 10% Shopback facility. Cons: It doesn’t taste like Canton-wise at all. They speak Mandarin instead of Cantonese. The food (clay pots and noodle rolls) look like Asian rather than Cantonese. Though decent size, their pots are a little smaller than others in Eastwood. Vegetable in the clay pots are not as much as their menu photos. The sauce and seasoning ingredients are also a little bit bland and not rich enough. The noodle rolls are not tender nor tasty enough, but too oily. Lastly, they don’t have the restrooms and customers need to go out and use the building block’s restrooms instead. I have tried twice to walking around (following the direction map in their store) to find the restrooms but to no avail. If they really want to attract customers to come back, they need to increase their portion size (my bill is $48.10), more tasty sauce and ingredients. Also more attentive when customers are looking for...
Read moreWe had a very satisfying dinner here at Canton Claypot Rice on a cold Wednesday night (and the claypot definitely warmed us up 😊).
Both of us had been craving for a claypot meal especially after failing to get one at the newly opened Claypot stall in the Chatswood food court (stood in the queue for a good 20 min in a non moving queue, apparently not taking order due either to a technical issue or a backlog of orders).
We were super happy that we got our Claypot fix here at Canton Claypot Rice, which were super delicious: we ordered the braised lamb Claypot, and beef with egg Claypot (with extra crispy rice)! The rice were crispy (especially the pot with the extra crispy rice), the ingredients were flavorful and we loved the vegetables that were inside the pot which balanced the meats and the rice really well! I literally emptied my pot (it was that yummy 🤤).
Additionally the staff were attentive and super friendly and helpful, which made the dining experience even better. Bear in mind since the Claypots were cooked from scratch, it did a while for them to be served (especially for the extra crispy rice, however they were well worth the wait 😊

Read moreCame for dinner, saw a line out front so expected it to be good. Dinner starts at 5, doors opened at 5:08, and when you step in, you see half the tables still with previous seatings cutlery and left overs still on the table.
Order via front desk or via app, we ordered 4 dishes, only started smelling food after 5:40. Doesn't seem like the kitchen has prepped beforehand so the kitchen only starts when first order for dinner is received.
After 30min our meal finally came except for one. This final dish came 40min after the first dish.
The pig Trotter looks like it's twice cooked was too sweet, no meat left, shrunken.
Chicken claypot was okay just right, but the ribs were chewy and felt like something from yum cha.
Love the rice in the claypot which made it crunchy
The clayfish rice wrap tasted okay, however doesn't seem like it was freshly steamed.
There was only one floor staff, the poor lady is in over her head dealing with seated customers, kitchen staff and take away orders. At times the kitchen hand needed to come out to help take orders...
