I recently found myself wandering into Jin’s Grilled Meat Pie for a light brunch, and I must say, it was a delightful discovery! Craving something hearty yet light, I decided to try their pork and chive meat pie and the chicken wonton soup. Both dishes were freshly made on-site, and the flavours were wonderfully authentic and vibrant. The pork and chive pie had just the right balance of savoury and aromatic goodness, while the chicken wonton soup was comforting, with delicate wontons swimming in a rich, clear broth.
Jin’s is not your typical grab-and-go pie shop; it’s a modern, clean, and welcoming restaurant with well-spaced seating that makes for a comfortable dining experience. Despite a bustling crowd, it never felt noisy or cramped, and I appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. The staff were pleasant and attentive, adding a warm touch to the dining experience.
One quirky thing to note is that even after sitting down, you order and pay at the register. It adds a casual, friendly vibe, almost as if you’re in a bustling street food stall in the heart of Eastwood.
Now, let’s talk about value – we had two servings of the wonton soup and a meat pie all coming to a reasonable $38, I left both full and satisfied, which is always a win in my book.
Overall, Jin’s Grilled Meat Pie is a gem for anyone seeking delicious, authentic fare in a clean, modern setting. I’ll definitely be back for more of their flavourful offerings, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot to enjoy a tasty,...
Read moreWe ordered a takeaway of 5 Jins pork pies and loved them so much we bought another 5 straight afterwards. They are not your typical Aussie meat pie in shape or taste. They are smaller oval shaped pies, covered in sesame seeds and filled with a delicious combination of pork mince and shallots and a few other things. Extremely succulent and tasty.
UPDATE 21/12/22 Visited this eatery a second time. This time we sat down in the restaurant. Its very clean inside with minimal decor. It reminded me very much of restaurants I visited in China. We ordered more Jins pork pies as well as the seaweed salad and potato salad. This is primarily a spicy food Chinese restaurant, with almost all of the dishes being spicy. The menu is quite basic and focuses on the pies as their speciality. Despite being spicy, the food is top notch and according to the signs on the wall, its very healthy with little or no oil used. We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. I think they need to broaden their food options and make chicken pies as well as pork. There also needs to be several non-spice dishes added for people who don't like...
Read moreWe had quick lunch on recent weekend at this new restaurant and tried two of their 'signature dishes' i.e. the namesake grilled meat-pie and wonton dumpling soup. The meat pie is quite unique and nice but it seems the description is incorrect. The pie was pan-fried with oil instead of grilled as per name description, hence it has crispy pastry skin. The dumpling soup is OK but nothing special about it.
Prices on the menu are of average value for your money and you can pay with credit cards with additional 1.5% surcharge. The ambience is nothing special to write about but at least the place is new and looks clean. The customer service is quite bad though since there is only one staff member who handled the cash machine and also delivered food to the tables. In addition, she did not speak English at all so ordering food is hard and...
