The frustration of trying to utilise their amenities was too much and since I couldn't trust that the kitchen was in clean working order, we ended up leaving without having eaten anything, because we'd waited at the door for service but nobody greeted or approached or even looked in our direction when walking by, we stood around for about 5-10mins, looking at things in the entry. We ended up going to the register at the back to ask how service works and was given soggy menus and had a dirty empty table at the wall pointed out for my son and I, with the promise someone would come clean and set it after we'd sat down, despite many clean and set tables available. I asked if we could sit at a clean table, and we were allowed. I went to use the toilet, but the toilet door wouldn't shut. I waited for another toilet, and the door was pushing through then hard to open and jumping open, then repeating about 6 times over, so I had to touch the top of the door to try to get it shut and locked while I was busting to go. Then the toilet seat was broken and moved off the bowl and I had to touch that to move it to be able to use it and since it was warm I decided to go wash my hands before doing anything else. Then I had to go through the whole process again of trying to get a door shut lol It was ridiculous, couldn't believe the sheer lack of hospitality and I refused to spend my money there. My son was excited because he doesn't go to restaurants much so I wanted to ensure he had an enjoyable experience, but our presence in the dining area seemed to be an imposition on the staff at 89 Thai, so we just walked out and left and went where we received proper hospitality at...
Read moreThe food is somewhere between average to good. The wait staff are nice and friendly but way beyound understaffed. 10-15mins wait time for a can of cola or beer is very normal on weekends. Whatever you do..DO NOT I repeat DO NOT send the food back. Just eat what you have got. No questions asked or be ready to be publicly yelled at by the owners. The cheff messed up 2 of our orders. We had asked for extra spicy fried rice and instead got extra extra spice noodles and regular fried rice. Being reasonable we only asked the rice to be taken back and remade more hot. The wait staff brought it back with raw ingredients to us. We gave it back saying please toss it in a wok or something for us with the chilie paste they gave us. This time the rice returned to us as it was 20 mins ago only more cold along with the lady who was the owner. She humiliated and yelled at us for torturing her staff? She yelled at my friend for next 5 minutes (not exaggerating) then asked him and I quote " you don't want to eat this?" he said no she said fine took it away.. didn't offer to make it again and made us pay for it in the end. The staff kept apologizing on behalf of the lady(owner).
Bottom line. If you really want to eat thai and cant go anywhere else come here and eat what they give you. And pray that you don't have to see this not...
Read moreEntrees came out writhing 5min of being ordered: Fish cakes (felt rubbery and almost microwaved) Satay skewers (tasty but dry)
We waited about 20-30min after the entrees before the mains started rolling out and when they did it was one meal at a time with about a 5-10min wait before the next persons main was delivered. They forgot two drinks and one of the waitresses brought what she said was a ‘Pad See Ew’ which no one ordered, (turns out it was my Basil noodle dish). Another waitress brought out what looked like my partners Panang Curry and when I asked if that indeed was the Panang Curry the girl looked at us and said “I don’t know what it is I think it’s a curry” 😂
The food itself was quite average. Nothing bad just….average.
Overall the staff seemed friendly but the waitresses seemed inexperienced and had a lack of knowledge on what they were serving. That combined with the slow staggered service on what appeared to be a quite night is the reason...
