This was our first time to Absolute Thai on William Street and we enjoyed it.
Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed it was a lot bigger than we expected, with cute triangular Thai cushions as a seating option along the windows. Plenty of natural light filled the restaurant.
For entrees, we shared the Mixed Entree Platter. It was nicely presented and looked very appetising. There were 2 x chicken skewers, a curry puff, a spring roll and money bag with a side of dips and sauces. Everything was delicious although the money bag was my favourite. This is a great way to sample some starters if you’re unsure what to order as a starter. I felt this was very fairly priced and the serve was generous. It was off to a very positive start!
For mains, we shared the Lamb Shank Massaman Curry and a Prawn Pad Thai with a side of rice for the curry. The serving sizes for the curry and Pad Thai were very generous and fairly priced. We had leftover curry and Pad Thai to take home as we weren’t feeling too hungry on the evening. The curry was almost perfect as the mash potato lacked a bit of flavour and the curry sauce was a little watered down and could have been a bit more flavoursome. I really enjoyed the Pad Thai though. Nothing to fault there.
The service was attentive and our orders came reasonably quickly.
The restaurant started to fill up more after we arrived which was a great sign.
I think Absolute Thai is easily a neighbourhood gem for this quiet area in Hornsby.

Read moreLast week my visit was a terrible experience!! The male waiter at the group's William Street, Hornsby restaurant was extremely rude to our group. When asked by a guest about ordering 2 pieces of 2 different entrees ( each usually served as 4 pieces ) he brusquely refused to place that order. Instead, he insisted that the whole of each entrees be ordered. After that dispute, our group ( all Australian males )was ignored. When something was ordered, it arrived & was plonked, unceremoniously, at the corners of the table, then left for us to sort out which food went to each diner. He only brought one lot of food, but all of our drinks During the course of the meal, the female waitress tried hard to make amends. She graciously took our orders! When the food arrived, she took extra effort to make sure the dish was given to the diner who ordered it!! The contrast in service was amazing!! She continued to serve our group graciously, even after being confronted by the male waiter. What made the situation all the more unpleasant was the about-face in attitude of this waiter when some Asian males arrived as customers. This male waiter positively swooned over these new customers & demonstrated that he couldn't have done enough for them. . . . Our group was neglected even more once these new diners arrived.
All that said, the food was still fabulous & of the same high standard that we had previously enjoyed at other of the...
Read moreThe food is nicer than the Berowra location for sure - but, the old thai place was much better. Also, not sure about this weird soft drink rule whereby they pour out some of a can into a glass. When asked, they said it was 'house policy, for safety', but I'm not sure glasses are safer than cans?
So, despite ordering the lunch special (which clearly shows a can of drink in the picture) what we get served is about half a soft drink can, which may or may not have been sitting open on the bench. Paying full price, for half of a product (and likely a subpar product at that) is a bit dumb.
As we left, we saw multiple half opened cans. Enjoy your flat, warm drink that cost $4.00 whomever...
