Such a stunning spot, beautifully maintained with several cleaning seating areas in sunny and shady spots. A lot of different flowers and wilderness to enjoy, not as big as you might assume but it is linked with the Florence cotton reserve. There are extremely limited parking spots and I was lucky enough to get one, but would caution you on that. There is a public toilet which is also very clean. Saw other reviews on a fish pond but unfortunately didnât find it and visiting in December didnât see a lot of blooming flowers either.
A WORD OF CAUTION: when going on the bushwalk/trail do not mistake entering into the florence cotton reserve (FCR), as i did and was walking for aggesss until i checked on maps how far in I had walked. I was deceived by the walking posts saying âloop walkâ but in fact it was not. I did take a shortcut off the trail to get back into the Lisgar gardens but at the expense of having a fiesta black ant bite my heel. Little to say it was not enjoyable. Definitely advise fully enclosed shoes. đ
Other than that, definitely go!! Itâs beautiful small spot to enjoy the Sun...

Lisgar Gardens is a lovely spot for a peaceful walk surrounded by nature. The trail takes you through a gorgeous little gully, and while there are quite a few steps, it's manageable and makes for a great outdoor escape. Families with kids who are used to bushwalks would find it enjoyable, as itâs an easy-to-moderate walk with plenty to explore.
The only downside was the loop walk itselfâit eventually led to a street, which didnât seem like the right way. After checking Google Maps and realising it didnât quite connect back through the garden, retracing the path was the only option. I'm not sure if we missed a turn, but it didnât feel like a full loop as expected.
The gardens are absolutely beautiful, though. Itâs a great place to unwind, enjoy a picnic, and take in the lush greenery. Unfortunately, the koi pond was closed off, which was a bit disappointing, but overall, itâs a wonderful spot to visit for some fresh air...
Read moreThe information posted by Hornsby council about the garden is a bit misled and limited.
Today, based on the information we found on the council web page, we ( 3 men ) visited the garden, with the plan to spend at most 1 hour there. We ended up spending approximately 2.5 hours. It was because there is a bush loop track started roughly 300 metres down the hillside. It was a surprised bush walk to us even though we love bush walks. That's why I said the council web page is a bit misled.
The track is well maintained BUT has STEEP very good condition stairs descending and ascending the hill side. That's why I said the information is limited.
The loop bush track took us an hour and a quarter to loop back to Lisgar garden.
We hope the council can update the web page and provide more detail information about the garden and the connected...
