We went there for dinner tonight at approximately 7:30pm. It was a post Valentine dinner as both me and my partner were working during Valentine’s Day. It was our first time in Hornsby RSL. As we are local, we thought we would explore something new here itself rather than travelling miles across in the city. We felt quite welcomed in the reception where we had to go through procedures of registration and stuff. Staff there were all quite friendly. Environment was great and cosy! Romantic to be precise! Everything was alright except for one old skinny lady. She is the waitress there and were doing her job quite well paying attention to the customers but just one moment which ruined our entire evening. This lady was coming around asking if we were done perhaps to clear the table but me and my partner decided that we would want to takeaway our food as we are quite full but do not wish to leave it. So I told her the same and asked her if any arrangements could be done like bringing us the container or something. She said yes but just gave a disgusting look like we just committed a crime. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a young waitress although it still wouldn’t be acceptable. But an old lady who has lived so many years giving that look broke my heart. So she thinks it would be okay to rather dump our food than take it away?? By the way, our food was very clean and not even messy to be given that disgusting look. Maybe it would be have been a different case if it looks soggy and nasty but we were mostly enjoying the moment than eating. So ended up chatting a lot and sipping our drinks that we didn’t really feel like eating. Both me and my partner felt very very embarrassed because she made us feel so. I will take this incident to media and everywhere to make sure it becomes a lesson to your insensible staff and your club! I will always take away the food too. Never will I throw it... Please remind your...
Read moreI’m disappointment and truly surprised that after extensive, beautiful, renovations, no thought went into creating a small welcoming space for parents to feed their babies (typically called parents rooms). When asking the staff at reception where I could feed my baby discreetly or if there was a parents room, the staff didn’t know, so they called their manager for guidance. I was then directed to the “parents room between the male and female toilets in the courtyard restaurants”. This ended up being the disabled toilet that simply had a plastic pull down change table. There was no chair to sit on to feed my son, and the bathroom itself was filthy.
I ended up going to LG and asking the staff member there if there was anywhere I could feed discretely. The lovely man understood my request and took me to an empty function room which was a handy solution but not a permanent one.
I’m really disappointed at the lack of foresight here from Hornsby RSL. On their website it boasts the venue as a “welcoming space for all generations” and one for “family fun” but it’s clear young families aren’t considered or welcomed.
Forcing disabled people and parents into one shared bathroom doesn’t consider their individual needs, as they don’t align. For example, a feeding mother may occupy the room for over 30+ minutes, while someone who needs the bathroom would likely not be able to wait that long. Given there is only one disabled toilet in this area, this could lead to a very stressful situation for someone.
It would make such a difference if management could find a small, underutilised room somewhere in the building and simply add a couple of comfortable nursing chairs. It’s a small gesture, but it would mean a lot to parents and make the club truly feel welcoming to...
Read moreThe service is just appalling Hornsby RSL. I came tonight with my parents and son to celery the 45th Saphaire Anniversary of my parents. I have been a member of the club since 2010 & I have watched the human aspect and service aspect go down the toilet over the years! Tonight was a new low! My son wanted to play a game of snooker and turned out whatever the machine was broken! Next when I asked one member of staff where I needed to ho to get the table tennis racquets and ping pong balls I was asked to go to the concierge desk at the back entrance and I was handed over to a member of staff there who asked me to leave either my DL or membership card in exchange for the raquet and balls. After doing this I walked all the way back to the attic where my son and parents were now in the Table Tennis room only to be stopped and told by another member of staff that I had to swipe my membership card to pay for the table tennis to play it ! When I informed them of what I was told by the other stuff member at the concierge desk, I was told " oh they were ment to keep your DL and get you to top up your membership card to play"! At this point the member of stuff proceeded to say that they were closing up the Table Tennis room. Really @Hornsby RSL how is any of that my problem???? When I told the concierge lady on my way out that they should get their processes and staff knowledge sorted out- her response was " Do you want me to get the manager so you can say it all?" - Again, Really? At 10.30pm Hornsby RSL you want me to hang out at your silly concierge desk! You guys have appalling & shocking service standards! Those aged parents of mine deserved way better than this! Please take this as the lodgement of a...
