Having both my parents born in Lebanon, you can imagine the kind of food they prepare at home. It’s definitely an advantage but sometimes, I just love to go out for a Lebanese feast and Al Aseel in Greenacre, is one of the top two places I go to.
The thing I love most about Lebanese food, is that it’s quick to prepare and it all comes out at once. It’s best enjoyed in groups, just so you can order a mix of everything. Banquet menus are very popular so be sure to enquire to get the best value. I think we did pretty good in ordering for two though!
We started off with a couple of mocktails (no alcohol available unfortunately) but they were really delicious. We ordered a few mezza dishes which included some dips, a tabouli salad, some sausages, chicken wings and potatoes and then ordered kafta from the grill as it’s a nice and juicy meat skewer.
‘Kafta Mishwe’ Kafta skewers, garlic dip, onion & parsley mix. When ordering skewers, I usually order this because it’s such a juicy meat. It’s basically a beef meatball. I usually wrap a little in Lebanese breed and then dip it into hummus and oil. Bliss!
‘Sujuk’ Spiced sausages with lemon. These are the perfect little sausages with so much flavour. Squeeze a generous amount of lemon onto them and wrap into Lebanese bread.
‘Jawaneh Bi Kizbarah’ Fried chicken wings, coriander, garlic & lemon. This is my favourite, simply because of the garlic and lemon. The fried chicken wings are coated generously and it’s just so freakn’ delicious.
‘Dip Platter’ Hummus, baba ghanouj, labneh, beetroot dip, served with olives, zaartar kaak & bread. I mean, you can’t go wrong with some delicious dips and freshly fried, crispy Lebanese bread!
‘Batata Bi Kizbara’ Fried potato, coriander, garlic & mild chilli. I love potatoes when they’re prepared like this. The potatoes are crispy on the outside but fluffy and full on the inside. Perfect amount of garlic and chilli to finish.
‘Tabouli’ Parsley, tomato, onion, burghul, sweet pimento, olive oil & lemon dressing. My favourite salad overall. My favourite way to eat it, is by scooping some in a lettuce cup and eating it with my hands, just like San Choy Bow!

Read moreGreeting was disappointing initially we had to look for a staff member to be seated after waiting for 10-15 min, we ended up going to the counter to make the order. After finally being seated we waited another 10-15 for someone to take our Order even though there was only a handful of patrons. Upon making the order I noticed it wasn’t taken on the system when asked the staff member said I’ve got a good memory, many items we chose in the menu we were told were not available such as the eggplant masaka and a few more.so I trusted and went to our table. I applaud the food began to come out quite quickly but noticed not all of it although we trusted it would eventually come out to our suprise nothing further came out. At this point four to five dishes were still missing. Looking for a staff member to ask where the rest of the food was unfortunately proved to be hard as no one was in sight. Again we went to the main counter and questioned the fact that the remaining food we ordered had not come out keep in mind these were the main dishes we didn’t receive, the response we got was oh sorry I forgot because I didn’t right it down he acknowledged it was his mistake. Go figure, hence why an order should be taken on the system. Not once did anyone approach our table to ask if we were happy or needing anything not once. Upon making payment for less than 7 mezze that we received small portions mind you we were hit with a grand total of over $270. Extremely over rated extremely over price will not come again definitely would not recommend. Unjustified amount sadly not to mention no soft drinks or any type of beverages...
Read moreMy family and I decided to have breakfast on a Thursday morning at Al Aseel restaurant (Greenacre branch). We had one of the worst customer service experience we've ever experienced. There was nothing on the table like the basic things you need for an Arabic style breakfast, eg. olive oil, salt, bread, not even table water. We had to ask the waiter for everything which they took so long to give to us. We only got ONE service plate (includes: pickles, half an onion, half a tomato, 5 leaves of fresh mint, a few olives) for 3 meals we ordered by 3 different people. So all of us had to share that one service plate, when we asked the waiter if the orders come with a service plate each, the waiter responded with a very bad attitude saying that "there's already a service plate on the table". We dismissed what he said and ordered another service plate which we were charged for.
The worst thing that is very consistent with eating at Al Aseel Greenacre, is that we get our orders with 10 minutes in between each order EVERY SINGLE TIME. My mother ordered a Falafel plate, I ordered one fateh plate and my father ordered one "foul" plate. My dad got his order first then after 10 minutes I got mine and after another 10 minutes my mother got hers. By the time my mother's order came, me and my dad were already full and finished with our meals. This happens every single time we ever went to have any meal at this particular restaurant. There is absolutely no excuse for this type of customer service, the restaurant was not even busy, there were barely 3 tables and the rest of the...
