Allpress Espresso Cafe & Roastery — Restaurant in Sydney

Nice venue, good food - but think twice before buying coffee beans from this place. Having come back from a trip and need to get coffee beans quick for my daily espresso, we went straight to the Sydney roastery to get some.

The coffee beans ordered online through their website are great, albeit some troubles questions around the roasting date as there are no indications on their packets (resolved after a few emails and orders).

The same blend coffee beans bought directly from the store however, when used to make espresso, feels like one that's been seating there for more than a month, even though the sticker says it was roasted the same week. It feels dry and the shots gush out like water bursting out of a dam. Espresso from beans that are 3 or 4 weeks out of roasting usually starts to run faster, but nowhere close to what I had from these beans bought directly. Very big questions to be asked about how they store their beans that are sold in store (probably something to do with the big transparent container holding beans behind the counter).

Not only is the Coffee tip top, the Staff here are incredible. Long story short… I've been without a bank card for the last week. Popped in today to buy my monthly supply of Coffee beans. (The ART espresso blend - comes highly recommended from yours truly btw) finding myself in the unfortunate predicament of carrying cash only amidst a pandemic, the staff politely informed me they are adhering to a Covid safe policy an rightly refusing cash payments. Taking sympathy with my predicament, the staff kindly offered to take my details on the condition I return next week to pay for the goods received. After being scolded and embarrassed at a competing store the day prior, I know exactly where I'll be buying my beans once again. Absolutely touched and grateful with the service received....

Not great. Just go for the coffee. Service was slow, one staff member was refilling the teaspoons (that were already full) while I waited at the till to be served, I thought maybe he wasn’t a till person but then he came and took my order. The iced tea was really weird, I’ve never seen iced tea cloudy brown, it was like tea and OJ and a glass of cranberries (one of the kids is highly allergic so had to take it back). Very limited options, great if you want a coffee and croissant but that’s it, everything else is limited and overpriced considering the options around this area. I can for the coffee and that redeemed it (as I knew it would) but you will be disappointed if you want more...
