Haven't done a review on these guys because they're local and I wanted to give them a chance, but yesterday's experience was super disappointing I need to write about it.
I've been here a few times after an overnight shift (I work all weekend) because it's one of the only places open early and I have to sleep right after. They make nice hollandaise sauce.
I ordered a bacon breakfast roll, and I repeated my order twice. The person serving was so vague and nonchalant in the middle of a rush, and everyone dining in has to order at the counter which is not at all comfortable, her attitude was frustrating enough. These people are always really dismissive and act like you're wasting their time to the point that they don't even listen- They misheard my name twice so I gave up and chose a more phonetically simple one.
After about 5 minutes I get my food from a different server and leave- I don't touch my roll until I get home and I realise it's SMOKED SALMON, with capers and raw red onion. I have really strong food aversions and struggle to eat the at the best of times. I like this dish but couldn't stomach it whatsoever when I most needed to. It may sound like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but I could've been deathly allergic to salmon.
Nevertheless, I wasted $15, 40 minutes, energy walking there and back only to leave disappointed and hungry- I wish I could've at least gone back and changed this but I did not have time and had to sleep. I'm only now able to eat at 2am after a long shift.
This was 100% preventable and I did my best to communicate clearly- this place really shows how little they care about their customers by giving the barest minimum of service and maximum turnover.
TL:DR abysmal service and completely wrong order. If you like feeling forgotten about this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLove this place. I am a local and have been coming here ever since they first opened but I think they need a reboot and the owner needs to get more involved again because I have found the service pretty disappointing lately. For example, today I paid $40 for two toasted sandwiches, a lemon tart, and coffees and was kept waiting way, way longer than necessary because the staff weren't paying attention and left my food sitting there steaming in the bag. Result: my food was soggy and my time was wasted (I was late for my appointment). This is actually the second time in a row this has happened. I watched my order being processed from start to finish and asked the server "How long has my order just been sitting there?" and she arrogantly replied "we are very busy today so you just have to wait". Actually, I was watching the staff laughing and chatting while I was trying to get their attention. In the end I had to ask them to check for my order otherwise I would have been waiting there for a lot longer. I am certainly prepared to wait as long as it takes during a busy Saturday morning but I am not prepared to be messed about like that for no good reason just because the staff want to be slack and there didn't appear to be anyone in charge who wanted to take responsibility. In case anyone is interested, I was there Saturday morning at about 10:30AM on 27 March. You need to talk to your manager/supervisor because standards are really slipping because I thought you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had called the store to put aside an order. When I came to the store I waited in line outside and then the lady inside told me to continue forward and come inside to the bakery section. When I reached the second from the front in line I was approached by a staff member who asked me why I was not wearing a mask and I told him that I have a medical exemption to not wear a face mask. He then told me that he would need to escort me to stand outside and that I was not allowed inside the store, stating that he would take my order outside. The public health orders currently in place are explicit that people with medical conditions and disabilities that prevent them from wearing a mask do not have to do so. Bake Bar is not the Premier of NSW and cannot make up their own rules regarding face coverings. Maybe they should spend a few minutes actually reading the NSW Health page regarding face masks because its clear that this lawmaker has no law degree and is in breach of not only the Public Health Orders but also the Federal Disability Discrimination Act. "Disability Discrimination Act (D.D.A.) makes it against the law for providers of goods, services and facilities to discriminate against a person because of his or her disability. It also means that a person with a disability has a right to enter the premises of providers of goods, services and facilities if people without a...
