Balliminos — Restaurant in Sydney

With expectations above average after our first time ordering pizzas from this establishment, I’m saddened to say that Balliminos will no longer be our choice in ordering takeaway or dining in for food. And as locals, we will travel out of the way to avoid this establishment. I have been a chef for years and run multiple establishments. I am enticed by how food can taste whether it is cooked with passion or not. Each bite made my partner and I sick to the stomach and we wouldn’t be surprise waking up sick in the morning. The food lacked love and passion, it wasn’t comforting and I would have rather cooked myself and my partner something, even after working a 12 hour shift.

Cooking isn’t just a job, it is an essential service that benefits communities greatly. Food creates a family and brings everyone together to get away from the day-to-day life and is supposed to create a comforting environment. Food should always be prepared fresh and served with passion regardless of costs. In return, the restaurant would have a constant flow of customers who are willing to spend the money. It will have regulars who won’t abandon the establishment.

I understand that a lot of businesses have closed due to Covid and other disasters but I think that the biggest factor is due to lack of love and respect for food by the owners and employees thus losing customers left right and centre. I hope this review will help improve the food, either way, we are sad to see one of our local businesses...

I had not been to or heard of Balliminos when I booked it for my birthday dinner. We were attending a movie in Glenbrook Cinema that evening and I wanted to book a place close by for dinner prior. During my google search Balliminos was the first restaurant that popped up and I'm so glad it did.

I emailed them and asked if they would be able to accommodate a large group for dinner on a Sunday night and I got a reply that very same day with a response. I found it very easy to organise the dinner with the staff at Balliminos, also very quick with their email responses and more than accommodating for the size of the group and any dietary requirements we had.

The night itself was fantastic and I could not fault anything about it. The staff were fantastic and the food was absolutely delicious and very, very plentiful. Everyone at my birthday party loved the food and did not go home hungry. We also had plenty of space but felt comfortable and cosy at the same time (we had 40 people in our group and had the whole restaurant to ourselves which was so cool!) The food came out super quick and is priced really well.

I am really looking forward to coming back to Balliminos and eating some more of their delicious Italian food.

A very extensive menu always screams pre-prepard/frozen not fresh produce & this is what this restaurant excelled at. The "risotto" was so overcooked, it was literally boiled rice in a puddle of cream. The same puddle of cream that the spaghetti was served in. There was nothing authentically Italian about the pizza menu either. The service was disappointing. No sooner than we had sat down, we were asked at least 3 times if we were ready to order, not even having time to look at the menu. Our main waitress seemed more interested in the passers-by than taking our order. We had to get one of our cocktails off the bar ourselves as it sat there so long the ice melted while everyone else was drinking there's. The other tables were ordering ribs which were being devoured by customers on a mountain of chips. My recommendation to this restaurant may be to stick with ribs, if that's what you're good at, leave the Italian to the Italians. We...
