It was going to be a sunny Sunday, Kurt was keen to go for a surf I wanted to go Palm Beach).

The reason for our journey to the northern beaches was because we found out about the newly renovated Beach House Avalon on Avalon Beach. After doing our sight seeing we headed to the surf club at the Southern end of Avalon Beach, easily recognisable by the fresh pink trendy signage out front. Whilst there’s a kiosk downstairs, make sure you find the stairs to head up to the restaurant to dine in a perfect setting. As we reach the top of the stairs, we take in the stylish new renovation, with pastal pink and green walls, which suit the beachside location. You can can see the chefs busily working their magic in the kitchen and also the bar staff concocting some amazing cocktails at the bar. You instantly are awestruck by the spectacular uninterupted views of the beautiful Avalon beach, certainly a relaxing way to spend your dining experience. We were so close to the shoreline we could have thrown a line in to catch lunch.

We are shown to our table by the window by the lovely Alicia, so personable, knowledgeable and passionate about the restaurant. This attitude totally makes it a pleasure to visit. We were given the menus, offered a drink as we scope the reasonably priced menu, which contains a list of appealing freshly prepared dishes with Japanese fusion elements. With most items on the menu are under $25, you certainly aren't paying for the views, which is hard to find these days.

Before we decide on food, we couldn't pass up the amazing cocktails, a little different than the usual with lovely combinations on offer. The Lotus martini was amazing, with a beautiful passion fruit flavour. They also looked after us having a designated driver on this visit, by preparing a virgin ginger mojito, a nice beach side drink. The cocktails are also reasonably priced, making the beachhouse the perfect venue to enjoy some drinks with a view.

After much deliberation over all the great food options, we decided on a number of items to share including the grilled watermelon and tiger prawns with a Japanese touch in pickled daikon and ponzu dressing, a really refreshing way to start our lunch. Another great dish was the raw salmon with wasabi crème fraichè, ginger, toast soy and ginger. The salmon had been beautifully flavoured and was extremely fresh. These items are perfect for this beachside location.

It was pretty hard to go past the green pea and cauliflower croquettes with nori crumb, pickled radish they had a nice crisp crumb and was served with tasty yuzu aioli. The inside was so creamy with nice crispy bits of cauliflower inside. We are also suckers for anything truffle, so the ricotta and shitake dumplings with truffle oil, watercress and hazelnuts were a no brainer. Large round dumplings and a flavoursome topping.

This amount of items was very apt to share between us.

Whilst we were quite full, we had also seen the Beachhouse Avalon version of a choc top on the menu. In addition, it was Kurt’s birthday, so the choc top had to be done. This was a choc top on steroids, the waffle cone was huge, filled with chocolate mousse, cashew prailine, raspberry and vanilla ice cream.

The Beachhouse Avalon met all our expectations and they’ve done the perfect job of the fit out, staffing and the menu variety is excellent and completely fitting for the location . This venue suits many occasions, from the weekend lunch to the afternoon catch up. Thoroughly recommended to add to your list of...

For an area with such amazing beaches and great views, there are very, very few places to eat on the Northern Beaches that actually have a view of the ocean. Brach House superbly fills this gap, with unbeatable views from the top floor of the Avalon Surf Club, planted right on the beach, with huge glass windows that stare straight into the surf, and unimpeded views the length of the beach. The menu is simple but works - fish and chips, salmon, a burger, a salad, half a dozen entrees etc, but it's all very good and the serves are generous. We had the soft shell crab tacos, which were superb, and perfectly cooked fish and chips. That easily fed 2 of us, while the 3rd person had a well cooked salmon. There's a good list of wine and beer. There's parking right at the foot of the stairs, though in Summer that will likely be filled during lunch hours, but should be free and plentiful for dinner. If coming for lunch, and wanting to avoid the hefty council flat fee, just walk across to the parking area next to Woolies. (If you live in the area parking is free with the council parking sticker). Good service (GF dishes were clearly listed and understood), very nice food, and a superb location - the perfect spot to show off the Northern...

The worst dining experience I have ever had. I was willing to overlook the fine dining prices with casual dining meals 'IF' the experience was pleasurable but it wasn't. So wasn't! For starters the room was nearly empty, 15 customers at the most, however there was a wedding next door which obviously took priority. There was no indication that dinner would take longer then normal so we enjoyed our cocktails. After 20 minutes we noticed no one had their meals and everyone seemed upset. After an hour we enquired about our meal and was told 3 minutes. After another 10 minutes we received our small over priced meals. Once we inhaled them we were ready to pay the bill, but were ignored at the register. When we asked to see the manager and see what she could discount on the bill, she offered us free desert if we wanted to sit and wait some more. We declined and were offered us $17 off our bill, even after explaining I'm a diabetic and my sugar levels had been dropping! What a mistake choosing The Avalon for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Never,...

Located right on the beachfront in the Avalon surf club! It has stunning views and would be perfect on a nice sunny summers day! You would be best to book as when we rocked up they said they had heaps of bookings for the day but would try fit us in somewhere. I ordered the burger as nothing really stood out for me to much on their menu. The Burger was good but the bread was a bit soggy and the bacon and patty probably could’ve done with a lil more time on the hot plate. Still nice though! Service wise was pretty standard and a little flat, but I put this down to having only a few people on who were stretched to their limits running around between lots of tables and answers phones. I would still recommend trying it out and go for something seafood from the menu as that’s what they are known for. Hope your experience is that little bit better 👌🏻
