Chargrill Charlie's Randwick — Restaurant in Sydney

Just came from Carcoal Charlie's in Randwick on Frenchman's road. This is our regular go to because of its quality and value. Today was very different. Got a snitty roll and large chips. Also a large salad. Whosoever seemed to be the boss (older gentleman with slicked back grey hair in a ponytail, stood watching the staffs every move. I got a large greek salad with about 1/2 a tsp of dressing. My large chips were put into a small chip bag and filled and then put into a large chip bag????? I asked for tomato sauce and again was given about 1/2 tsp of tomato sauce. When I mentioned it was a large order of chips, she laughed nervously and gave me a reasonable amount of tomato sauce once he walked away. Your establishment has been built on reputation and good word of mouth. You need to pull it together. Also not very many people there for a Monday evening. Maybe others are noticing the change. This place seems to be slowly, but surely going downhill when it comes to quality of food. When it opened it was possibly the best roasted chicken in the area and fantastic, fresh salads.

Yesterday I ordered half chicken, chips and Japaneese coleslaw and in a word: disappointing. Chicken was bland - lacking any discernable seasoning and quite overcooked (breast part of the chicken was so dry we had to throw it away) and Japaneese coleslaw had feta cheese it it! It did NOT have any seaweed nor edamame beans but feta! And, to add insult to the proverbial injury, it was served with wrong dressing. Chips were nice, but it's hardly a saving grace when your "specialty" - chicken, is so disappointingly below average.

Very average place! I’ve been to the Bondi one which was far better and way more fresh and had more flavour, this crew is not the same. They are also rude with their customer service! I walked in as a new customer and didn’t know about the ticketing system, and the staff member asked if I had one and I replied with where I can get one. Instead of him telling me where to grab a ticket from he pointed to the ticketing screen showing the ticket numbers.The staff were washing/cleaning the inside of the chicken roasting machine WHILE there was chicken inside roasting - that’s disgusting. So beware you might be eating bleached/soapy chicken! THEN I decided to get rice pudding which goes off today 17/04!!
