We have been customers at this restaurant for over 10 years, both eating there & home deliveries. Today I ordered sweet & sour fish fillets, Dry Fried Shredded Beef with Mandarin Sauce & large Steamed Rice all dishes we have enjoyed in the past, BUT this time it was TERRIBLE. The cost was $58.10 for the worst meal we have ever had from there. I phoned & asked for the manager who the person answering said he was. I then explained that I wanted to complain that the Steamed Rice was not delivered, the Dry Fried Shredded Beef had the mandarin sauce poured over it so when it arrived it was all stuck together & inedible & the Sweet & Sour Sauce appeared to have come out a bottle, as it had no pineapple pieces as it normally has. I was so disappointed that I had phoned & spoken to the manager who said the rice had been left out of the delivery & we should in future order the beef with the sauce delivered separately. He suggested that the next time we order he will not charge for the rice. I am most disappointed that no responsibility was taken or refund offered & no way that I can be assured of credit for the very poor quality of service. Leo Sommerich phone...
Read moreThis restaurant has changed hands from time to time but it is always known as Choyan and not much has changed in decor for a number of years. If ABC ever look for a location for period drama then this place will be straight from central casting. Having said that, it is a comfortable space and usually quiet and familiar. The wait staff are also old-gen rather than next gen but they fit in like a glove and are warm and friendly and super efficient from years of practise. Food has, thankful, moved on from the black beans with any meat and sweet and sour sauce era and is typical of most better Chinese restaurants. It is nice to see that they are not afraid to use spices (and chilli heat) where appropriate. The food arrives quickly and piping hot. Ingredients were fresh and servings are generous. However, it a quieter night so things can become unpredictable on a busy night. Outside of the well known Asian food centres on the north side (e.g. Chatswood, Eastwood, etc) this is a solid and dependable local...
Read moreI can 100% say out of all the Chinese restaurants I've been to this place is by far the best. Amazing and very friendly staff that cater for your every need, lovely interior Chinese design and sitting booths (who doesn't love a booth). But the food, I cannot rave enough about the food. Beautiful aromas and a huge variety of chinese quisine all cooked to perfection in delicious and succulent sauces. I would by far recommend their Mongolian Lamb. You honestly won't find better. 10/10...
