My wife and I were holidaying in Coogee for the Easter weekend and on the way down my wife had lost her phone. One of the waitresses had an iPhone and offered to look for it via "Find My Iphone". She then located it in a house about a kilometre up the hill. A guy at the counter (we suspect it was the owner of The Courtyard) then offered to drive me up the hill to go and look for it as it seemed like it was moving and the waitress borrowed us her phone so we could locate it via the app on her phone (how awesome is that???).
After a short adventure (we thought it was inside a house, so we ninja'd our way across a few yards, before locating the phone just on the side of the road, so it must have fallen out of the pram on the way down), we made our way down again and offered the guy free breakfast and/or drinks, but the girl behind the counter said he gets everything for free anyway (hence the suspicion that he was the owner, who else would get everything for free right) :).
Long story short, the place itself is awesome, especially on a sunny day, the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly (I don't think you'll get this kind of service anywhere else in Coogee) and the food and drinks were really good too, so...
Read moreWent there for a Sunday brunch and was very disappointed. Waitresses spent more time staring out at Coogee Bay Road than actually paying attention to customers that needed assistance. Myself and several of the other tables had to physically get up and actually ask whether there was table service or just to find a waitress and get their attention. The waitresses also seemed to get annoyed whenever we signalled them to come to our table. Seriously if you don’t like serving people then do a different job ! Food was very poor, loaded with mountains of mayonnaise oozing out of the side of the sandwiches. Chicken in the pita pocket was badly overlooked and the strong coffee we ordered was as...
Read moreWe ordered Steak Sandwich and Cheeseburger. On arrival the burger patty looked disappointing as it was one smashed burger patty (contrary to "Juicy beef patty" in description), while Steak Sandwich looked promising - so we decided to share half half. While the burger delivered what it looked like, the steak sandwich was chewy and raw in portions. So I suggest that owner goes either reconsiders prices or addresses the food. There were many staff on the floor, a bit more than necessary, so perhaps cut a bit on service cost - as its a cafe, and focus on better portions. I understand its Coogee and rent are not cheap, but still - unless you are stuck on beach hungry, its...
