After consideration of a few shops, I decided to try the pies and coffee at Crotty's Bakery. I ordered a coffee ( even though the coffee machines was in the process of being cleaned and shut down, the lovely lady made me a coffee to my exact liking ) and believe me, I know a great coffee when I smell and taste it. The coffee although not as strong as some was a pleasant experience and I was not disappointed at all. The pies. I ordered a cheese and bacon pie which to my surprise was spot on with taste and enjoyable however the pastry on bottom was a little on the soft side ( not a real issue when you lack as many teeth as I do ๐) but it was so tasty and worth it. The second pie was a tomato and onion. Although the pastry was the same as the cheese and bacon, the taste also was full and enjoyable which is also more than I can say for the many other bakeries I have tried here and in the far north or Queensland. Surprisingly I totally enjoyed it, even though there was only one slice of tomato under the top pastry, the flavour went evenly through the mince and onion filling. If I did have an issue here, it would be the opposite of what I say to other bakeries and that's to just ease up slightly on the onion but apart from that, I truly enjoyed it as it was satisfying indeed. Now to the environment and staff. No issues to mention. The staff were very accommodating to my requests without any issues and also very polite and friendly. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing, even for a bakery on the highway. So my final rating on this bakery is a 4.7 and would recommend this bakery to anyone who was passing this way and to stop and give them a try. I didn't get to try any cakes or sweet pastries ( kind of sad I didn't) because they truly look amazing in appearance and I'm sure the flavours would be the same ( maybe next time). Thank you to the staff for an enjoyable friendly...
ย ย ย Read moreNice little bakery on the GWH Kingswood. Plenty on offer inside, both pies, sausage rolls and cakes. Appearance of the pies look unappealing [except the multi level], but looks can be deceiving. They remind me of the Ol Co Op bakery in Lithgow who taught many including Billy Allan, the guy from Lawson and my Dad, who made old school pastry pies. Yes the foil tin, but the bum was perfect. I went for Pepper and Curry. Both had beautiful flavours and perfect heat as well as eating temperature with a nice meat ratio. They Curry was my favourite, with a burst of spice on the first bite. Both a great 8.5/10 washed down with a $2.50 coke ๐ Pies $6.5 give or take 20c Very happy I visited and will be back to try the Beef, Pea...
ย ย ย Read moreWe were recommended this place and the prices were reasonable, cakes and pies were alright but banh mi was one of the worst we had in Penrith. Presentation was bad, taste was ok, the salad roll was improved but the roll was not crunchy at all ( we asked for crunchy).
Reply to owner: we are aware of what a traditional banh mi is however a lot of places have a range under their banh mi selection such as the pork belly one shown in our review. It wasn't a special request my partner just ordered it as he does several other places that sell banh mi with pork belly and cracking. Rather then take ownership of the poor presentation you spun it back on...
