Honestly, I went here months ago and I was pleasantly surprised. But, after coming in this morning to order a large chai latte with full cream milk and when I tasted it I was blown away (in a bad way). It was spicy.
The first happy point was the walk, pretty short from the station to be honest, but personally a bit too much cardio for me. I was lucky I knew where I was going otherwise I wouldn't of been able to find it, from the station you can't even see the shopfront!
As I turned the corner I take a peek at the last bit of liveliness I will see until I leave the dang place, there was a short uphill accessibility ramp to enter AND I STOPPED IN MY TRACKS the queue was obscene and I saw a Ranga young lad at the register.
I ordered my chai and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. There was no need for me to wait for this long, AND THE CASHIER WAS JUST STANDING THERE! I'm twiddling my thumbs as my drink finally comes, and the manager screeches to the cashier to do everything, he seems like a capable young man and it just seemed bossy and egotistical. Please treat people better.
I leave without tasting my chai latte and when I get back across the train station I take a sip AND IT WAS FERAL. It was like drinking chilli infused milk. You were lucky I was late for the train and didn't come back to give you a piece of my mind.
Here are my ratings and their subsequent explanation. Food - 0* This review is obvious, I'm sure they have some decent food/drinks but my chai was disgusting. Service - (a surprising) 4* The cashier was lovely, some small talk was nice and he was very efficient. HOWEVER, everyone else just seemed plain rude. A missed opportunity for 5* right there. Atmosphere - 1* Lets be real with ourselves right now, no need for all the things on the wall etc. Honestly an eye sore.
Curl the whisker is a funny little place, but not for me. You need to be a type of person to enjoy a café like this one. I feel like a makeover would be in order, and maybe a change of staff (excluding the cashier - give him a raise). I want my money back, the prices were...
Read moreVery limited breakfast menu, missing most of the usuals for weekend morning cafes like salad breakfast bowls or smashed avo W/ poached eggs etc. Can probably put the later together manually by getting a smashed avo on toast and adding poached eggs but additions are usually expensive and will lack the flair of having additional spices or greens
Coffee was good though, and the staff were super nice. I would give an extra half star for this if I could.
One weird thing was the had a Milo explosion in the cold drinks menu which my partner thought sounded nice and ordered... Ended up being 2 scoops of ice cream topped with Milo.... So not a cold drink and she ended up with ice cream for breakfast on the side of her actual...
Read moreJust when I thought I was out of options for a morning coffee, I pulled off Pennant Hills Road near Thornleigh train station and saw a cafe with a Campos sign out front. Great start! So I found a park nearby and walked back to see a bit of a lineup. Well, it's probably good if people are willing to line up...and the line actually moved pretty quickly! Step up, and they have the Jumbo Campos cups (yay!) It's always good to have a friendly barista and Trang didn't disappoint - she was quick with my Capp yet it was a good one👍 Overall, very glad to have found Curl the Whisker Cafe. I'll have to drop in again next time I...
