My dining companion and I decided to revisit Doytao Thai | Drummoyne for dinner this evening, expecting the same delightful experience we had grown accustomed to before their relocation. Unfortunately, our anticipation quickly turned into disappointment. With only four diners in total, including us, the atmosphere that once buzzed with excitement felt eerily silent, signaling perhaps the first red flag of the night.
The food, while not terrible, has noticeably deteriorated from its former glory. Dishes that used to burst with the authentic flavors of Thailand now seemed to lack the care and precision in preparation. It was disheartening to witness such a decline in culinary standards, a stark contrast to what we once raved about.
However, the most jarring aspect of our visit was not the food but the shockingly poor level of customer service. The waitress attending to us displayed a level of rudeness that was, quite frankly, appalling. From dismissive gestures to a palpable lack of willingness to engage with us on any inquiries or requests we had, her behavior was far from the warm, welcoming hospitality one would expect from any establishment, let alone one priding itself on a rich cultural heritage.
This experience was a far cry from the warmth and excellence that Doytao used to embody. It's disheartening to see a favorite spot lose its charm and quality, especially in a competitive culinary landscape where customer experience is paramount. One can only hope that this feedback serves as a wake-up call for the management to address these glaring issues promptly. Until then, it's with regret that I say we'll be looking elsewhere to satisfy our cravings for...
Read moreDoytao is a chain. This food from this one is quite lacklustre. We ordered spring rolls, non vegetarian. It was the highlight. We ordered chick satay. Average. My mum makes better, but then again, few can. Average. Then Chicken KaPrao, which was hot but lacked the complexities of what you would expect from the dish such as salty and sweet. Sauce was weak, but veges were good. Then the yellow chicken curry, a generous bowl. But again, there was a lack of complexity, weak curry sauce, a little sweet, no body. Potatoes were good. Then the massaman beef. Beef was tender. Potatoes were cooked right as well. The textures were right, but again the sauce let it down as it lack punch, was weak. I've only been here twice, this time and back in 2017. I hope it was an off night for them. The one at Boronia Park hits the mark on these...
Read moreThe food was ok, but the presentation of the restaurant is not up to scratch. Poor restaurant fit out. Menus are grotty, lots of dirty fans running. I have the view point that if you can't invest in the customer facing aspects like replacing ripped, grotty menus, then what are you doing in the kitchen, it can't be good. Look at your restaurant from a customer lens and then look how how an 'on-point' restaurant presents itself to its customers. You can make some low cost enhancements to really enhance the dining experience. It was an inexpensive meal, but would rather pay a little bit more, for a better dining experience and hopefully higher quality /...
