Finally dropped by Buttercrumbs in Five Dock and yep I can understand why they have a queue because their pastries are so insanely good.
Got the apple turnover and the strawberry nutella pastry, and both were seriously good. The turnover had a crispy, buttery shell with some sort of crispy sugary later on top with filling that wasnât overly sweet, and the strawberry pastry was rich, creamy, and loaded with fresh strawberries on top with custard and filled with nutella on the inside.
Both pasture also were surprisingly airy and light instead of tasting super heavy which was a pleasant textural experience that didnât compromise on taste in any sense. Itâs definitely a nice reprieve from overly dense pastries because the flavors of the other ingredients really get to shine through as one.
The space inside is pretty tight, especially when itâs busy, but staff were friendly and moved quickly.
Definitely worth a visit if youâre into pastries and donât mind a bit of a wait. I would come back to try the rest of the range for sure as I came pretty late in the afternoon and a fair bit of the other pastries were sold out...

I bought 2 Croissants, One plain and one with Chocolate inside. They claim there is 3 sticks of chocolate which are probably the size of toothpicks. The picture tells a thousand words. (see below) Where is the chocolate ??? Then to charge $5 each for this poor quality product is a slap in the face really.
The coffee is very weak as well. This place has way too much hype and very poor quality food compared to other stores just within this area. This horrible thin sugar glaze seems to coat all their products which destroys they savoury taste you desire in a savoury treat
I am not sure who they think they are catering to, but if you are after a good quality croissant and a well made coffee that is not watered down then...

My garlic square saga: I remember hearing from word of mouth how good their garlic square was, and there it was; fresh, golden and straight out of the oven. Grabbed one for takeaway and hopped on my bike and cycled down a few suburbs to Sydney Olympic Park where I found a bench to sit and finally take a bite. The crunchy edges! The garlicky explosion! Heaven in pastry form.
Then, a lady walks by seeing me devouring it in less then 60 seconds. She asked me where I got it from and I tell her its from a little pastry shop in Five Dock. Her face falls. Pure despair realizing its a couple...
