A Cozy Experience at Four in Hand in Paddington
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of visiting the Four in Hand in Paddington for a casual dining experience, and it truly exceeded my expectations. Nestled in a charming neighborhood, this hidden gem offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease.
The interior of the restaurant is tastefully decorated, striking a perfect balance between modern elegance and traditional charm. The subdued lighting and comfortable seating create a cozy ambiance, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed evening out with friends or loved ones.
Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Four in Hand is a delightful fusion of classic and contemporary flavors, showcasing the chef's culinary expertise. From the moment I took my first bite, it was evident that the kitchen staff pays meticulous attention to detail. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the flavors were perfectly balanced.
As an appetizer, I opted for the succulent buffalo wings, and they were a true treat for the taste buds. The wings were perfectly seasoned, with a crispy exterior and juicy, tender meat. The accompanying blue cheese sauce added a tangy kick, taking the flavor profile to new heights.
Moving on to the main course, I decided to indulge in the mouthwatering Eye Fillet steak. Cooked to perfection, the steak was seared to a beautiful char on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. The marbling of the meat added an exquisite richness of flavor, making each bite a heavenly experience. Paired with a side of roast carrot and potatoe gratin, this dish was a true feast.
To complete the meal, I couldn't resist trying the dark Chocolate Jaffa Cake for dessert, a delectable combination that left me craving for more.
I must also mention the wonderful owner, Colin, and his amazing team at Four in Hand. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that they operate like a big family. Their passion for their craft and dedication to providing exceptional service was evident in every interaction. Colin's warm and friendly presence added an extra layer of hospitality, making me feel like a welcomed guest in his own home. The camaraderie among the staff created a vibrant and positive atmosphere, which further enhanced the overall dining experience. It's inspiring to see a team that works so seamlessly together, adding a special touch to an already outstanding restaurant.
Overall, my visit to Four in Hand in Paddington was nothing short of delightful. The inviting ambiance, delectable cuisine, and impeccable service combined to create a memorable experience. Whether you're looking for a casual dinner or a special occasion, I highly recommend this hidden gem. It's a true culinary treasure tucked away in the heart...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreScrewed twice on first visit. We are always looking for new eateries and tried this on a friends recommendation We ordered drinks just before 6pm, by the time bar staff had poured the drinks and rung these up it was 2 minutes after happy hour. Happy hour drinks were over, oh well ! We thought we'd try the food specials advertised prominently at the bar. Tapped the reader then found the receipt showed meals charged at full price. I queried with the barmaid who was also confused but after checking she advised we had ordered 6 minutes too early. Apparently the small print explains food specials don't start until 6:30 and the order and $$$ had gone through so waiting for 6 minutes was not an option. The dangers of trusting hospitality staff and not having reading glasses to hand. Tried explaining to Jenny, the "duty manager". Yes I am partly at fault BUT as a new customer my wife and I have enjoyed the food and drink but been left with a poor experience. Jenny acknowledged my feedback BUT; .... there's nothing I can do, ..... its a senior management decision to strictly follow these rules, the tills don't allow any leeway .....what you should have done is ......
Its a shame, good food, pleasant setting, poor experience. Not somewhere we will be adding to our regular eateries.
If you visit be sure to read and strictly follow the small print.... or just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were there on 10 February and were disappointed. The main courses were pedestrian at best. The place specialises in pork and to have a whole roasted piglet for a party would be spectacular. However, the portions of pork we had were under-cooked and rather tasteless. It is no great achievement to ensure the crackling is crisp: this is basic cookery and the restaurant managed this much. The kidneys that came with the pork were tough as they had been cooked whole without being cored.
The desserts selection was limited and uninteresting. The 'breakfast for dessert' dish would have indeed made a good breakfast dish but was ridiculous as a dinner dessert.
The highlights? The service was good and so was the lack of any background music. This is one restaurant where you can converse with your fellows without listening to the music chosen by the washing-up staff. The final negative was the pricing - over the top. Needless to say we won't...
