Gelatissimo Coogee — Restaurant in Sydney

I’m a gelatissimo gelato fan, so this review gets 2 stars for that reason, however I am not a fan of the service in this store.

I wanted to give the girls here the benefit of the doubt, maybe they had a bad day, were tired or had had some difficult customers, maybe that was why they were so ill-mannered, sharp, and didn’t even smile when serving me. Yet, unfortunately this isn’t the case... because I’ve been in 3 times and this behavior has been consistent every time. In addition, I’ve spoken to 3 different friends about their experience in the coogee store, and they feel exactly the same.

As I have worked in retail myself, I know how difficult it can be to be ‘on point’ all day when serving, yet I also know the importance of turning up to work with a positive customer-focused attitude and the need to provide quality service, despite how you’re feeling personally. Perhaps the employer at this store should either provide their staff members with some customer service training, or suggest that these girls find a job that is more suited to them. They are ruining the reputation of this store, and to be frank, even though I prefer gelatissimo, I go to the ice cream store around the corner because I would rather go to elsewhere than be served by the girls...

I'm a regular at Gelatissimo, popping in almost every week or sometimes even more. Their flavours are always great, and the staff is usually really nice etc. Tonight, I gotta give props to the amazing girl working behind the counter! It was crazy busy, and super hot summer night with a line out the door, but she handled it all with such coolness. Major dedication! But seriously, Gelatissimo, why leave her solo on such a wild night? They gotta sort out their staff game to support hard workers like her. Three weeks ago, my life changed... The gelato here is out of this world. So creamy, rich, and packed with flavour..... There's a huge range of delicious options, and everything I tried was incredible.

A special shout-out to Lucia, who made the experience even better! She was so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about the gelato. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made us feel right at home. You can tell she really cares about the customers and takes pride in her work.
