Gelato Messina Randwick — Restaurant in Sydney

We are redeeming our Messina voucher on a Sunny Sunday afternoon. So a great excuse for a bike ride to go to the local Messina store in Randwick Newmarket. This is the new cafe and dining area with kids playground next to The POW hospital on Barker Street Randwick. We have 3, 2 scoop vouchers to redeem.

The Messina app is a lot of work to install on our mobile phone and is really maximising the amount of customer information to provide, in exchange for a free ice-cream.

To redeem our voucher for a free ice cream, we have to order true the Messina mobile phone app which is not easy us. Some of the staff is still in Covid mode and is not to helpful with answering questions about how to use the app and place an order.

We are getting the impression that the staff actually also doesn’t know how to use the phone app.

When we get to the point of giving up. Lucky one staff member actually does know how to use the app and guides us true all the steps to place an order.

Fortunately Messina is better at making ice creams than mobile phone apps and I have to say that our ice-creams tastes great.

Also we like the suggestion from the staff member to have the kids cone in a cup with the cone on top is great. This avoids a lot of mess.

The taste of the ice cream gets 5 star but the app and the ordering...

Went in to the Randwick store to pick up our Xmas cake order, but when I asked the manager on duty a very simple question of “ could you please tell me what nuts are in this cake?”, she just kept replying with “We don’t know” or “I can’t tell you”! Then proceeded to tell me that nuts are found in all their chocolate flavoured ice creams! When I tried to explain that I’m not too concerned about the ‘May contain traces of nuts’, more so the ACTUAL added nuts, she just wasn’t interested! Not sure what I’m going to tell our 12 guests arriving Xmas Day with food allergies?? I’m sorry, but when you’re charging $250 for an ice cream cake, you need to know what’s in it! Then when my daughter whispered I should call another store the next day, she rudely replied with “No, they won’t know either!” Absolutely rude and most unhelpful attitude, no customer service or duty of care...

Bought a 3 scoop cone. Saw them make a 2 scoop before me that had more ice cream than mine.

Nice ice cream, but staff not welcoming or informative. Did not say blood orange was a sorbet, and it didn't taste like blood orange compared to others I've had. Cow and th Moon do blood orange brilliantly, and is a cream, not sorbet. That's what I thought I was getting. The sorbet really killed the cream flavours I had. If the fruit flavours are all sorbet, say so.

Didn't feel staff cared to respect the customer. I think it was more the girl that served me. I don't think the other girl there would've been the same. Either way, it wasn't that...
