George's Takeaway — Restaurant in Sydney

I have been coming to Georges Takeaway for 20 years! The food is fantastic with old school takeaway burgers, chips and scallops. Super fresh salad and sandwich bar and a delicious hot food bar including roast meats and casserole style dishes. The staff are always so friendly and wanting to have a chat. After so many years they pretty much become family :) They are a small family run and operated take away shop that have been around for many decades, I've experienced and witnessed their big hearts and generosity plenty of times. We peaked in on Sunday morning (we were attending church close by) hoping for coffee and found out from the owner that they’re closed. He still checked his coffee machine and told us, machine is on and he will make us coffee. He took our orders. We chat away while he makes us coffee. He finished our 2 regular coffee cups and sent us away, didn’t want us to pay. Hubby still paid but we had to run away as he was giving it back to us. There’s still good people out there. I didn't realise Padstow was home to such an authentic Gyros. It's refreshing to see how this takeaway keeps it traditional, with quality ingredients and rejecting the modern gyros take of making it in a 'V' shape. Must point out the chicken....it was simply brilliant. Tender, succulent and done the traditional Greek way. My only gripe is I wish the chilli sauce was hotter, but considering how tasty the product was, especially the chicken I'll let that one go.
