One of my favorite brunch places.

Summary I've come here more than once for a great brunch at a nice, convenient location. The prices are what you expect out of Sydneys Newtown and you get your money's worth. Staff was friendly and helpful, asking for feedback on the food and attending to us regularly.

The food. In the pictures you can see my latte and Bacon n Egg roll with an extra of hash browns and avocado. My girlfriend also had some buttermilk pancakes, but I didn't take any pictures because the kitchen is still experimenting with the new menu and the presentation of the pancakes are still in the works. They did, however, taste really good. My food tasted as good as it looked: fantastic.

Prices. My food came to a total of 15,5 AUD (roll was 8, extra hash brown 3 and avocado 4,5). Compared to other brunch places, I felt like I got my money's worth.

Location. Missenden road is a pretty busy road at lunch time, and sitting outside doesn't offer the best view. However, I come for the food and not for watching cars, so I have no problem with it. If you want a cozier experience you can sit inside, where it's quiter.

Staff. The staff was helpful and polite. Our waiter asked us about the pancakes several times as they look to improve them, and we were overall happy. I've read previous reviews about the staff being rude, and I have to say we did not encounter any of that, but the staff was neither friendly beyond what's expected. I was happy with the...

Located near the corner of Missenden Road & King Street, it is well located for visitors of RPA Hospital and the locals of Newtown.

They cater for people with gluten intolerance and preference for gluten free products. Their range is quite extensive for breakfast and baked goods.

We decided to try the Ham Eggs Benedict, Breaky Bruschetta (Ricotta, Field Mushrooms, Roast Tomatoes, Avocado & Parsley) with an additional poached egg, and Gluten Free Blueberry & Coconut Pancakes (With Maple, Pistachio Crumble, Coconut Yogo & Persian Candy Floss). The poached eggs on both the savoury dishes were cooked to perfection. Wobbly on the outside and once cut open, the golden yellow yolks flowed onto the plate. The eggs Benedict with ham and wilted spinach were served on brioche buns and tasted really delicious. The breaky bruschetta was a substantial and satisfying meal; creamy ricotta was thickly spread on toasted sourdough and topped with meaty mushrooms, avocado wedges and sweet grilled tomato, all perfectly seasoned. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and bland but were a vessel to soak up the maple syrup and pistachios. The coconut yoghurt added creaminess to it. Strawberries added a fresh touch to the dish.

We would definitely be back for the...

Hoochie Mamma café has an interesting name. Whilst there were no characters of these sorts frequenting this café, it is certainly fabulous and we were met by staff with flair. Sparkly was a top waiter and instantly charismatic. He totally made our visit, being extremely accommodating and providing humor to our morning visit. In close vicinity to the Sydney University Colleges and the hospital and a short stroll from the main street of Newtown, it really caters to everyone. It also has children’s seats and toys and therefore suitable to families too. The space is huge, and comfortable with a good amount of outdoor seating and heaters to provide you warmth in the cold. We tried the special – sourdough topped with feta, rocket and poached eggs for a healthy start to the day. We were also after something sweet and decided upon the pancakes. These were light and fluffy and of a homecooked style. Drizzled with maple, a honeycomb butter and orange rind. Whilst they didn’t appear outrageously fancy, they met the mark on taste. They serve great coffee, by little marionette. A great café and perfect for any crowds. Not too expensive and they have food to...

Stones throw away from busy King Street & RPA Hospital, this deceivingly large cafe has a lot of space & a lot of menu choices. Everything sounds delicious & on this occasion for breakfast, I tried the Lumber jack omelette, scrambled eggs & fruit salad with Coyo. The lumber jack omelette was filling to say the least & had great flavours from chorizo, mushrooms & feta, a delicious, hearty start to the day! Scrambled eggs is always a good test at a cafe & this one was well cooked, not overly creamy which is to my liking. The fruit salad was beautiful to look at & eat! A big plate of colourful, fresh, beautiful fruits accompanied by coconut yogurt ($3 addition). Coffee beans are roasted in house & was a great brew. There is plenty of room inside & out which is great for groups and there is a kids corner with lots of toys and books so is super family friendly also.
