What terrible customer experience we had last night and their service always makes me nervous when I bring family and friends. They definitely lived up to that last night. The untrained staff and the owner or manager at the cashier can be a hit and miss experience! So first let me say I hv always recommended this restaurant and it's our favourite when compared to the few in St Ives and the one in terrey hills.
I brought 3 friends to dine here and had our table booked 2 days ahead of time. We sat at our table whilst we waited for one more person to turn up. Now, from experience I know they almost always hv issues with space on their ground floor and constantly cramming pple onto small tables, which really annoys me. But we go there for the food. Now the manager / owner started to shuffle a square table next to us and turned to our table, a rectangle very comfortable 4 seat table and asked if we could move to the smaller table she was setting up. I said no thank you & that we were comfortable on our bigger table and do not feel like being crammed onto a square table which was quite honestly meant for 2. But like i said its common knowledge that they love shoving pple into small spaces to cater to crowds. At this point, after my response to her, she says to me, almost rudely, " Oh the upstairs seating area is not very nice.". Now, not only is this NOT my bloody problem nor should you be passing such a comment to your customers. We ignored her and we cld hear some ranting commotion in her native language as she returned to the cashier area and we had our own commotion.... the audacity of her response to us!!! Anyway, they left us be, a dude with a grumpy face, probably bc of us NOT wanting to move tables, took our orders and we said pls bring our starters together with our mains. Out came our the starter ALONE without our mains. At this point, a few more groups walked in, after us and was seated. These bigger groups were served their mains whilst we waited for ours nearly an hour if not longer. Even after we asked for our meals, it still took another god only knows how long before it finally arrived. It almost felt DELIBERATE to a degree and quite frankly I was just so embarrassed having brought friends here with this kind of service. Jai Ho owner/manager, sort out your seating arrangements and stop cramming valuable customers onto tiny tables, some seated right up to the cashier. If you think your top floor is not suitable/nice, surely you can manage some remodelling or a face lift? If you hv larger crowds pls hv seating times like other restaurants so pple arrive and leave promptly for the next seating time and NOT HV TO sit side by side to one another, COVID restrictions NOT abided by either here!!!! Lastly, please check the kind of customer service you give your customers and the experience you allow them to remember you and your restaurant by! It's just pathetic how you treat customers, esp one that recommends your establishment as a go to pl. Will no longer be recommending .I'm afraid of what one...
Read moreI have been a regular at this restaurant for years and I hate to say this but I will never return back to this restaurant ever again! During our last take away order, we noticed there were two long pieces of hair in two separate dishes that we had ordered. As a result I contacted the restaurant to share my feedback. There was no real acknowledgement or apology. I was expecting they would apologize and offer me a refund at the least or a full credit towards my next order. Instead the person on the phone (Manager) said he would speak to the owner and get back to me. I never heard back from the restaurant. To give them a benefit of the doubt, I called a week after to make a new order. During this phone call I referenced my previous experience and requested to speak to the owner once again. After being placed on hold for 5 mins, the Manager again addressed the call and said the owner was not there. The messaging soon changed to, please hold and let me speak to the owner. Another 5 mins later, I was told the owner had asked whether I had taken any photos of the hair coming out of the curry, as proof? The owner was present at the restaurant but refused to take my call or apologize. What should have been an apology soon turned into we cannot give compensation and shifting the blame on me for not taking a photo. This was so disappointing and clearly shows they do not have any care for the customers experience! On principal this is wrong and it is not the type of small local business I would ever support. I decided to take my business elsewhere and ended up finding a Indian Gem in Hornsby - Tandoori Club! To Jai-Ho management team, I hope you learn from your mistakes and do extend the respect to your customers that have supported you for years. To blame and accuse them instead of taking accountability for a mistake is the least anyone can do! Also to not return a phone call despite multiple promises is just beyond acceptable. Jai Ho and...
Read more   Read moreWould love to give a higher rating; however, after 90mins of sitting in the restaurant, only the starters arrived. We (parents with a 10yo) then joined a long queue of people leaving. The waiter didn't seem to want to be there and asked me to just point at what we wanted on the menu (I speak quite clear English...). The vegetarian samosas arrived first, about 40 or so minutes after we arrived...and about 20mins after our order was finally taken, and were very tasty. About 30mins later, the onion bhaji came out (after we enquired whether our meal was going to come out). Based on the starters, there is promise for the food there. Alas, we weren't to find out. One of the drinks we ordered (lemon lime & bitters) was flat, the replacement was warm (on a 30+ degree day). We gave up and paid for what we had received and left. $32 for starters and drinks. The poor waitress seemed very new and wasn't sure what was going on - massive kudos to her for trying though. There seemed to be no rhyme nor reason to the kitchen. At the beginning, takeaway orders were being prioritised over those in the restaurant...but that didn't last long. Tables that came in after we did somehow managed to get their orders - one table offered some of their leftover naan to another table that had a small child, recognising how long that table had been patiently waiting. When I left, the queue of people waiting for takeaway was almost out the door, with people rapidly losing patience with being told things would be "two minutes" (don't believe them - nothing was two minutes there!). This was our first time trying Jai Ho. Not sure we'll be...
