This cafe makes a decent cup of coffee (depending on the barista on roster at the time), and so I've gotten my morning coffee from here from time to time. You can say that I've got too much time on my hands at night, with a teething baby and all, so please allow me to share my takeaway coffee experience from earlier today.
I walked in and waited for someone to take my order (no greetings no nothing, I mean, fair enough, they seemed busy). And then, as soon as a gentleman walked in (I'm assuming a regular?), one of the servers, a lady, greeted him, and asked him if he wanted the 'usual'. I felt a bit of an urge to pull a 'Karen' on her right there and then...but then I compromised and asked her if she didn't see my waiting all this while to take an order? She proceeded to give me a look that made me feel like a heel and a second class citizen all at once.
I think this is the first cafe I've been to in Australia (and New Zealand) that plays the VIP card to such a blatant extent, and I have to say, when you're not on the receiving end of the VIP service and are instead a member of the 'waiting class', the experience can leave a bitter taste in one's mouth (and not the heavenly...

Probably because I questioned the extra 50c for milk in a large, not an extra shot but extra milk only and thought the girl said fifteen when she said fifty😂 the first tasteless coffee I’ve ever had from here. I know they have a bit of an attitude here but it’s usually just a cheeky attitude. Today it was obvious the barista was telling the other barista to not make a proper coffee with the glancing attitude and that’s what I got, a reused arm. 10% surcharge on a Saturday?? Are they hard up for business on what should be the busiest day? So I payed $18.70 for a bacon egg toastie, the bread is nice and relish and bacon pretty standard but the egg is precooked and sitting on the shelf then reheated, the only other place I’ve seen that is service stations and McDonald’s but at least maccas don’t let it get cold and rubbery. Read moreI've been a customer of 'Replay Espresso' for the past 2+ years. Admittedly, I don't visit every week, but I manage to get there 2-3 a month. More often than not, I get a takeaway coffee, which is generally good, if not great; but on occasion, my wife and I will sit down to a 'dine-in' brunch or lunch, which sadly, has become increasingly hit or miss of late... seemingly dependent on which staff are on duty. Yesterday (Jan 28), my wife and I took a walk and decided to grab some lunch at Replay, which regrettably was a mistake. Excluding the pleasant/polite young man on Barista duties, the staff were, to a fault, indifferent, bordering on contemptuous. If the staff at Replay are not happy to serve the public, and/or work on a Sunday, then they should find another vocation. The final disappointing and relatively costly visit on my part... I will be going out of my way to find an alternative option in future. 'Holi Crop' is getting good reviews and may be more deserving...
