In my 3 years living in Sydney I have never had such an upsetting experience. We went for lunch with my girlfriend, the food was good, especially the bento box, the chefs were very quick to send us the food.

The problem? the hostess / waitress. I mean it sincerely and I don't want to hurt someone, because it is hers, her job, and all I hope is that the owner / manager talks to her. But, I can't pass up this experience either.

The woman was very unpleasant, I don't know if she is her nature, she discriminated against us or she had a bad day. We can all have bad days, but I, as a customer in a restaurant, do not have to tolerate bad attitudes.

The woman, during our lunch, was dedicated to hitting EVERYTHING, she was incredibly brutal, like when a child wants to attract attention. When she took our order, I asked a question regarding the menu to which she only responded with "NO!" almost yelling at me, without giving me options, her attitude was very strange. At that time I did not care.

She kept hitting everything, when I left an empty plate she ran to get it off the table, passing her body and arm over our faces, without her wanting to say "permission" or "I take your plates away from you?" She continued in the same way until we left.

It has been the most unpleasant experience I have had eating in Australia. I wouldn't write this if it weren't for the fact that she was really extremely unpleasant (see my reviews, I generally write to congratulate).

Thanks to the chefs, the food was good.

*this happened on 8/5/21,...

Had dinner here with my partner and her family a few nights ago and i can certainly say this place deserves 5 stars as it had delivered fantastic food, ambience, and service.

Although a relatively small resturant, it provides an experience that feels unique to itself. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful, you can clearly tell these guys care about their jobs.

The food was also just as great. I had ordered the good ol' karaage don and it had lived up to my expectations. The portioning of the food was also quite larger than i thought, which was a surprise as most other japanese restaurants have smaller portions. I was already full by the time i had eaten 1/3 of my meal (i still finished it of course). The miso soup was also good and actually filled me up a lot more than i thought it would.

Not gonna lie though, the food was quite pricey depending on what you order, but $16 for karaage don was a pretty decent deal, considering that it has done its job of satisfying my stomach. The other meals that were ordered were pretty pricey though, especially the sushi rolls as it could have been up to $10+ i believe.

Nonetheless this is a perfect restaurant for all your japanese food...

Kibuna has always been a lovely place to receive japanese comfort food. Regardless of authenticity, the chefs and waitresses make me feel at home and welcome me with a smile every time I visit and I'm sure everyone else who walks through that sliding door receives the same 5 star service.

The food is hands down delicious, the chef never disappoints me and always meets my expectations whenever I take that first morsel into my mouth and the food always comes out in under 10-15mins, gotta love Fine and Fast dining.

When it's a full house, it kinda feels cramped with the small space as you would have to dodge and Weave around other patrons to get to the toilet, which is understandable and not really something to complain about, but coming here on a slow-day would be the best time to enjoy the food without disturbances from other patrons, that's just my preference when dining and also I love the knick knacks and samurai sword that sits at behind...

I decided to try the ramen here after seeing some good reviews and wanted to check it out for myself. The place is cozy, and the service is warm, creating a nice overall experience. That said, the ramen is on the pricier side at over $20 a bowl. As for the ramen itself—it was okay, but nothing standout. Maybe it was just an off day, but the usual authentic half-cooked egg was fully cooked and overdone. We also ordered extra pork slices, but as shown in the photos, they were dry and more like basic meat slices rather than the fatty, flavorful cuts you’d expect (and at $6 extra for 3 pieces, it didn’t feel worth it). On the positive side, the original shoyu broth was enjoyable—balanced between light and rich—and the noodles were cooked well. It’s just disappointing that the egg and pork fell short, leaving mostly noodles and broth to enjoy. I might stop by again another time to see if I just caught them on an off day.

KIBUNA... In few words “ A touch of authentic Japanese Cuisine in Aussie Land”. That what it is, after passing the entrance you get a feeling of being in a small alley in Shibuya, this will certainly put your hopes high. Then, your mind will be at ease with the kind staff, quality ingredients, great prices and service that make this small place a hidden treasure for all lovers and curious of Japanese Cuisine. We ordered a Chicken Soup Lemon Ramen pack of flavor, a Deluxe Bento box with Teriyaki Chicken with the fluffiest rice I tried in Australia, with probably the best price for what you get, and finally an original ORION Okinawa Beer. The following pictures don’t make justice to the dishes itself. I would recommend this place even to the royalty. Meaning that is not about how fancy, expensive or renown needs to be a restaurant, but how well is presented the spirit of it with service and food quality.
