This was one of my most disappointing experiences ever, I ordered the food to be delivered on the 28/09/2016 on that same day I ate it, its the first time I've ever gotten food from this restaurant, the prices were not cheap, and this was for a persons birthday in my family.
First what annoyed me was that on the menu it didn't explain what ingredients where in each dish, luckily I know some Japanese and understood what some things where but other people weren't so lucky!
I ordered: Entrée: Agedashi Tofu: (The Description says: "Deep Fried Tofu with Sweet Sauce") Donburi: Chicken Karage Don
The Birthday Girl Ordered: Entrée: Agedashi Tofu Main: Whole BBQ Squid
It sounds really yummy at first, but the deep fried Tofu was in an oily fishy sauce, I chose this because one it didn't look like it contained seafood which I'm allergic too, and it said it was a sweet Sauce, but it wasn't sweet, it was fishy sweet with seaweed and it made the Tofu slimy, I wonder if it was leftover Tofu; it looked unappetizing and tasted puke worthy! The Chicken Karage Donburi I got was disappointing, the rice was boiled unflavoured, a bit dry and gluggy and in my container of food was old salad. I say old because the Tomato was mushy the spinach and salad leaves were wilted and discoloured, the cucumber tasted strange as well and there was no salad dressing on it, and who puts salad in a dish like this? Seriously? If your going to do it list it. This isn't even the worst of it yet, the Chicken was flavourless and like rubber, and the outside was crumbed and a dark color (I've had chicken karage before and the chicken crumb was a light color, you see light colored crumbed chicken in the supermarket for godsake) There wasn't a lot of it either and some kind of cheap mayonnaise sauce, this cost $13.50 and you know what I wouldn't pay 5$ to buy that in the restaurant if I went in person!
The Birthday girls squid was rubber like, flavourless, and boiled, wasn't it meant to be BBQ squid? There were merely dark lines on it, it was obvious that the Squid had be overboiled and placed on a BBQ to brown off. The extra rice was gluggy flavouress and disgusting!
4 people ordered out, 115$ worth of food approximately, and this is just half the cost, honestly it wasn't worth it, I was upset and the birthday girl too. You need to Fire whoever was cooking that night, arrange better ingredients! As I'm aware, the food was delivered directly from the restaurant so we had the exact same food as everyone else in there, so if it wasn't Kinjo has a big problem. I honestly want my money back, and I'm not going to get it back.
If you want to go to this restaurant, I suggest you find another place, they obviously cannot cook! Its overpriced, and without a doubt you can find something nicer, healthier, cheaper...
Read moreHighly recommend that you avoid coming to this restaurant which serves “Japanese” food that is far from what is truly authentic. I tried the yaki udon and it was swimming in pure soy sauce. I would have to check my sodium blood levels after this and my kidneys are probably damaged because of it. My girlfriend tried the teriyaki salmon rice bowl and it was just as bad. To make things worse, the pork gyoza had a weird porky flavour to it and was mushy. I instantly knew it wasn’t fresh and I was right when I spoke to the owner (not Japanese btw). To add the cherry to the cake, the cashier gave me 2 wrong receipts which amounted to $100 more than what I ordered originally. As someone who has eaten authentic Japanese food my entire life and spent months in Tokyo, the food I had today is an insult to...
Read moreI have been going to Kinjo for many years. The sushi is usually amazing, fresh, and declicious (Katsu chicken and avocado is my favourite). I also love the vegetable udon soup, the don buri, and the bento boxes (yum!!). The female manager, is absolutely delightful and provides excellent service, I really love her happy and nice nature. I have only ever had two bad experiences there (which is not a lot since I have been going there for years); one where the inside of the fried octopus ball was cold, and another when a girl working there was very rude. I also agree with other reviewers that the gyoza is very hard. Other than that, Kinjo is an excellent Japanese restaurant and the food is delicious and satisfying!! I...
