Tucked away in the alley along the strip opposite Homebush Station is this tiny Asia town with Chinese and Vietnamese eateries.

Along with them hides a very modest Hong Kong style cuisine. Basic layout, a but messy inside with old but clean tables, no excessive accessory to decorate the place and a humble set menu on the wall to depict offerings with their very reasonable prices.

I was going to order the pork belly rice but the friendly kitchen staff politely pointed out that today’s pork belly was a bit on the lean side and asked if I was ok with it. Given that I made the choice of going for the roasted duck/BBQ pork, aka chasiu, with rice - I was so grateful that I did.

I was a bit surprised when I first saw the size of my big plate filled with delicacies. The duck was delicious and cooked just right - in Sydney often you would find similar dishes cooked too long and too dry. This was cooked to perfection. The bbq pork was incredibly impressive. It was juicy and the colour was very appealing and appetitious. It brings the rare authenticity of a high standard Hong Kong roast meat to life.

Overall I had enjoyed my experience there, a lot. And I would recommend...

I would say this is the best and most authentic Hong Kong style barbeque shop. Crispy pork belly is always good with very nice fat distribution, and is always marinated to the perfect amount of saltiness. Duck is fat and aromic as well... Charsiu is good too. Price is also very reasonable. I haven't tried anything else but the three things I list about, would definitely recommend!

As with all other Hong Kong style barbrque, make sure you order them when they are made fairly fresh (within 2 hours), you have nobody to blame if you get dry meat because they have been left out for too long. That's especially the case for crispy pork belly. Don't microwave it at home because all crispiness will be gone. Ask the chef when do things usually come out and you will most certainly get some tender...

We’ve been a regular customer at this restaurant, always spending hundreds of dollars here. However the service today was unacceptable and outright. When a short, heavy-set female staff member with long hair walked out from the kitchen. I politely said, “Hello, I’m here to pick up my 10kg bbq pk order.Instead of assisting me, she rolled her eyes at me and walked away without a word. At first, I thought she might be deaf/mute—until I overheard her chatting fluently in Cantonese with other customers. It’s clear she refused to acknowledge me because I’m a Mandarin speaker. This isn’t just bad service—it’s blatant discrimination. I expect basic respect when spending my money here.

To the owner: Train your staff better. Rude employees will cost you...

The Mog Champ sends his regards. For a fresh meat shop that has been here for who knows how many years? They are a gorgeous place to get takeaway chicken, BBQ pork or even duck. They have a small area to eat-in too but it's usually a takeaway place! I remember my family used to buy takeaway from here all the time back then, decided to get myself a half box of soya chicken last night for one or two night's dinner. They prices are definitely affordable and much better than getting a full meal elsewhere. Just bring it home and cook your own rice is what is recommend. Service is extremely quick, it's different to your usual butchery since they don't sell raw meat. It's all cooked and prepare to eat straight away! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

Been buying from this shop since 2014 when I moved back to Strathfield. Ever since than I’ve never buy other places barbecue but only this one until now. A very delicious barbecue shop with “lots of varieties from roast pork to homemade Chinese sausage, marinated duck tongue, pork intestines, chicken feet and even lotus wrapped dumplings. Almost every weekend I would have a takeaway of roast pork and sometimes duck tongue to go with booze. The roast pork is still warm and skin is so crunchy with the perfect saltiness and flavour. It is usually very busy during Sunday lunch time and on any Chinese festive occasion too. All the barbecue are homemade and roast by the shop itself which is fresher. Love it a lot !!
