Tucked away in the alley along the strip opposite Homebush Station is this tiny Asia town with Chinese and Vietnamese eateries.
Along with them hides a very modest Hong Kong style cuisine. Basic layout, a but messy inside with old but clean tables, no excessive accessory to decorate the place and a humble set menu on the wall to depict offerings with their very reasonable prices.
I was going to order the pork belly rice but the friendly kitchen staff politely pointed out that today’s pork belly was a bit on the lean side and asked if I was ok with it. Given that I made the choice of going for the roasted duck/BBQ pork, aka chasiu, with rice - I was so grateful that I did.
I was a bit surprised when I first saw the size of my big plate filled with delicacies. The duck was delicious and cooked just right - in Sydney often you would find similar dishes cooked too long and too dry. This was cooked to perfection. The bbq pork was incredibly impressive. Crispy pork belly is always good with very nice fat distribution, and is always marinated to the perfect amount of saltiness. Duck is fat and aromic as well... Charsiu is good too. That's especially the case for crispy pork belly. Don't microwave it at home because all crispiness will be gone. Ask the chef when do things usually come out and you will most certainly get some tender...

When a short, heavy-set female staff member with long hair walked out from the kitchen. I politely said, “Hello, I’m here to pick up my 10kg bbq pk order.Instead of assisting me, she rolled her eyes at me and walked away without a word. At first, I thought she might be deaf/mute—until I overheard her chatting fluently in Cantonese with other customers. It’s clear she refused to acknowledge me because I’m a Mandarin speaker. This isn’t just bad service—it’s blatant discrimination. I expect basic respect when spending my money here.
To the owner: Train your staff better. Rude employees will cost you...
