I feel like the reviews of Lucie's Cafe are tainted by the "local favour" of a long-standing business operating in the mt druitt region. As someone who was just visiting, I have very mixed feelings.
First of all I found my encounter with the staff to be pleasant, but not outstanding. Personally my order is standard at most cafe's So I didn't require any assistance in selection, however in my observations of other customer interactions they seemed to be very helpful.
Having a brief view at the rest of the reviews many people say that they offer very large portion sizes, I did not find this to be the case. My order of eggs Benedict while tasty, was rather small, and not worth the price. They should most definitely offer to the customers how they want their eggs cooked, as I was not satisfied with mine.
The Hot chocolate was good, seems to be the standard Cadbury drinking chocolate, but there is no expectation for a cafe to go much above this standard.
One thing that I am not fond of, is the lack of hygiene. All of the counter staff don't use gloves when serving foods from the dessert fridge or when using ingredients to make drinks, eg smoothies and milkshakes, and I have not once see them use hand sanitizer or soap. I hope the staff out the back are engaging in much more hygienic practices.
In regards to the decor, almost every booth has cracked leather and there's always flys around. The historical photos and descriptions on the wall do offer some distraction from this but the cafe is most definitely in need of a physical makeover.
Overall whilst this may be a local favourite for mt druitt, it fails to meet the standards met by the best cafes in the Sydney region, and unfortunately it may be necessary for a food hygiene inspector to visit.
Make no mistake, for outsiders of the mt druitt region this is certainly no 4 or...
Read moreWARNING TO ANYONE WHO WISHES TO EAT HERE!!! FROZEN/EXPIRED FOOD! DISGUSTING STAFF!! First things first, the boss tells the staff to leave 5 star reviews for the cafe. I’ve been here a couple of times as it looked like a nice place in mount druitt to get a lunch. WRONG. Their lasagna is Woolworths frozen lasagna, and pretty much all the other food is frozen too, other than the eggs if we’re lucky! The staff were talking to each other they spoke in their language and was looking at our group laughing at us right after serving us. I spoke to a guy who used to work there and he said the boss makes staff wash slimy sausages to cook and serve to customers. Just disgusting. He also mentioned that the boss made him wash plastic bags to re use for the food. I don’t know how this place has such high reviews when they pretty much make nothing fresh! Oh wait never mind, the staff get told to leave good reviews. I had scrambled eggs and they weren’t even scrambled properly and had burnt bits through it. The only thing I can say is the dishes were clean but that’s the only good bit about my experience here. I went here twice, the second time hoping the staff didn’t make fun of me in their language again, and hoped the food was better. I told one of the staff about my first bad experience and they told me “I must not have good taste” which is appalling considering they don’t even make the food. I will be reporting the slimy food being washed, the disgusting staff behaviour, and the frozen Woolworths meals to higher ups. I would never even recommend this place to someones pet chihuahua. PLEASE...
Read moreDisappointing - my daughter ordered scrabbled eggs and toast which she enjoyed (hence the two stars). I ordered chicken and mushroom crepe noticed that there was melted cheese on the top (not a fan of cheese) so I removed it. When it was removed all I could see was the chicken and mushroom floating in a sea of creamy cheese which was not mentioned on the menu. I sent it back as I couldn't eat it and that the cheese was not mentioned on the menu. The waitress took the food and made no offer of another dish. When we went to the counter to pay the bill I suggested it that as I was unable to eat the dish that I ordered it might be nice to be offered a discount. I was advised that this is a popular dish and without the cheese it would be dry - which is true as the chicken that was floating on top of the cheese was dry.
Disappointed in not being offered a discount or even a apology would have been nice - something like "I'm sorry you found your meal unsatisfactory " - some kind of customer service would have been nice.
We paid the bill and left and will not...
